Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds

Post by Sue Short on Thu Dec 29, 2016 12:34 am

I'm going to address Carrie Fisher first. I first knew her as Princess Leia. She was the first princess I knew that did not need a prince, charming or otherwise. I admired her for standing up and talking openly about not only mental illness but addiction. Addiction is another form of mental illness.

Debbie Fisher, I knew her daughter better. Still she had to be a remarkable woman to have raised such a remarkable daughter.

At the end all I can say is may the Force be With Them and their families.

I was shocked to hear they both died. Carries' only a few years older than me and I first saw her as Princess Leia....a very strong, self assured woman who needed no man to 'help' her. Groundbreaking role for the time. Carrie was quite a woman and didn't fear showing the world she was human like the rest of us.

I grew up watching Debbie Reynolds movies.

They looked so much alike and in some ways were alike in personality too. Probably why they clashed so much in the past. Glad they got that sorted out before the end. May they both be at peace.
