Awwww, GK knows purrs help calm scared kitties and peoples too. Did it help Mouski not be so scared?

I know it was adorable to see.....wish I was there to see it in person.

Mouski came out shortly after the rain stopped, so I guess the purring helped. Fortunately, we haven't had many storms since that one. It's rainy today, but the storms have stayed to our south. Mouski says it's perfect sleeping weather.

GK wins great protector kitty award! I love you We had just returned from a dinner gathering with our alumni friends, and were winding down on the couch when GK JUMPED down and ran to the kitchen in full hunt mode. My husband said he had seen a mouse, which I completely missed. EWWW! A mouse in the house.

First attempt failed, and the mouse ran behind the fridge. But, GK went slowly the next time - stalking. Next thing I knew, he pounced and picked the mouse up in his mouth. Of course, it was still alive. He brought it to us to take outside. It was a baby, which makes me think that a mom had little ones somewhere under the house. Sigh... Time for the black snakes to go under there and clean up! But, we are safe inside. We have GK the mighty hunter!

He watched that area for a whole day. No signs of further invasion. Smile Way to go, GK!

He was quite disappointed that we got rid of it as quickly as we did. I think he was hoping we'd share.

I had to clean the kitchen because of that mouse. He had left some "offerings," which was just too gross to be ignored.

I can imagine....EWWWWW.

I remember when the trailer I lived in had mice....what a mess. Took a while to find exactly where they were coming in. Then took a big can lid from chow mein and some soapy brillo pads...stuffed hole with the brillo, then nailed the can lid over it. Never saw mice again inside.

Yup... Out here in the boonies, it's almost guaranteed that one or two will find their way in. Almost everyone around here has at least one cat - inside or out - to help keep them at bay.

Becky, I'm surprised a mouse even came in considering your fur family members being in the house and outside. My aunts' dog was the mouser, the cat had no idea what to do with a mouse even when Princess flipped it up in the air and it landed on the cat!

Laughing I can hear the cat saying, "Yup... I have the dog trained to do my job for me. My life is COMPLETE!"

We don't get rodent invasions often. I'm not sure Mouski would really know what to do if he caught one, but GK has enough barn experience that he was very efficient. I hope he's teaching Mouski.

I sure hope Mouski is watching a real master mouser at work, despite being older and recently recovered from leg troubles. GK is still really up to the job so Mouski should be his apprentice! Mind your lessons Mouski!

The master mouser is having an older senile kitty week. Yesterday, I heard him growling and hissing. I went to check, and he was just lying in a room by himself. I don't know what upset him, and he snapped right out of it when I said his name, so all is good. Maybe he's just practicing his grumpy old man act.

He has been extra vocal the past couple days. I think he's just getting talky in his old age. The first few years we had him, we never heard him make noise. He would open his mouth like he was going to meow, but no sound came out. He's making up for lost time now.
