Smile I've had that Merlot. Tasty if I remember right. Great celebration of the world championship.

It was good. The soup would have been better if hadn't had so much salt in it.

Try Orrington Farms low salt bouillion. It's the powdered kind but tastes really good but not salty. Sometimes I'll use half that and half better than bouillion to keep the salt down.

I managed baked chicken last night without too much trouble. So, thinking maybe baked fish tonight with well steamed Brussels sprouts. Pudding for dessert.

You can eat my share of Brussels sprouts. Smile

Salad and canned soup. Campbell's Yes soups are pretty good, and I can understand the ingredient list. I'm a fan.

I wish I had some Brussels sprouts! I had a thanksgiving type dinner for lunch so later for dinner I had an icecream float!

Yum! We had chicken pot pie with spinach on the side. It was really good. I'm getting ready for making a pot pie with leftover turkey, so practice w/chicken seemed like a good plan. Smile

Sounds like a winning one to me. Had quail maranaded in red wine, garlic, peppercorns, and some orange juice. Some type of winter squash and coconut-lemon grass rice. Red wine. An Argentine Melbec.

Chili. Figured we could freeze leftovers so we don't have too much in the fridge after big bird feasting.

My sister had in the past canned homemade chili to enjoy later when she makes a big batch.

Not sure what I'm having tonight. Neither my mom or I are cooking a big meal tomorrow....first time in decades.

On the canned chili, I had someone doing community service who showed me a great trick. Brown a pound of ground beef, add some sauteed onions then two can of Wolf Brand chili. Don't laugh it's not too shabby.

I'm not cooking tomorrow either.

I have plenty of Mason jars, but no lids. No canning tonight. Freezer is almost empty, so I'll just ladle it into serving sized bags. I can bring one with me to work since I have to drive a LONG way on Mondays and Wednesdays now. I am too cheap to eat out often, so I can bring lunch that's pre-portioned.

TURKEY!!!! Found a great use for leftover cranberry sauce. I grilled steak stuffed with blue cheese. I took the leftover cranberry sauce and heated it with zested orange rind and ginger. Very good. Want to try it on other things.

That sounds fantastic! A nice spicy red would probably go really well, huh? I make my cranberry sauce with an orange (rind and all) in it, so all I need is some ginger... Smile

Yesterday was eat-out night. I had a really wonderful cioppino with local mussels, clams, scallops, and shrimp. The dungenous crab had to travel a bit, but was alive when it got here, so all was fresh and delicious. The rye bread was fresh baked, and the non-oaky chardonnay went well, although could have used a bit more spice. It was that or a sweet Pinot Grigio. Umm... Hmm.. Smile

Really tasty clam chowder from the gourmet market. I also ordered a case of my favorite wine since I am pretty sure the California fires will make it more expensive and harder to find. I'll stock up for the coming year. Smile

Oh no! The wine isn't available. The gourmet store said I could try again next week, but I feel gloomy about it. Fingers crossed!!!

Tonight was beef lo main. It was pretty tasty once I jazzed up the sauce with a bit of extra ginger and lemon grass.

And tonight was hamburger surprise. Burger, onions, frozen peppers from the garden, smoked tomatoes from a can, and various herbs/spices. Served it with pasta. Reminded me of childhood.
