Robin Williams

Post by Sue Short on Mon Aug 11, 2014 7:33 pm

CBS news announced that Robin Williams was found dead in his home of an apparent sucide. He was
63. I'm stunned. He had such incredible talent and I know he was beset my many demons but he seemed
to have overcome them. I remember him from my college days in Chicago. He was doing stand up in various clubs. He was as they used to blue and I mean BLUE. He was also at times so coked up he could barely stand.

May he now be at peace.

This is shocking news. He was only 63.

RIP Robin. My fav roles of his were in animated movies such as Genie in Aladdin and Batty in FernGully.

Dead Pets Society. I think that was his best.

Sad news indeed.  He was a little too manic for my taste in recent years - kind of like Jonathan Winters on speed - but he was truly a very funny man.  Now, Jonathan Winters was a true favorite of mine, and he was obviously an inspiration for Williams. Unfortunately, with that over the top style of his, it doesn't really surprise me a lot that he might have hit lows as low as his highs were high.  May he rest in peace.   Crying or Very sad

Talent and depression go hand in hand all too often. For some reason, this death has hit me harder than most Hollywood deaths. I'm not sure why. Even with his manic personality, I thought he was very inspirational.

He was so open about his struggles with drugs and alchol. He acknowledged how extremely hard his struggle was. Despite it all
he had a reputation for kindness.

So sorry to hear about his passing, and that it was suicide.

His manic side was sometimes a little too manic for me, but he was a gifted serious actor as well

He had talent.....I remember the first time I saw him. On Happy Days as Mork. Saw a few tv specials of him doing improve (they bleeped out the bad language)...he was soooo funny!
Heard he'd signed to reprise Mrs. Doubtfire for a sequel....now they probably won't make it at all. What a shame...I bet it would've been good.

I loved Robin in all the movies he was in! Even with a bad script he made it better.

Good, wasn't it? Yet they panned it as not a not so good movie since it was serious and not funny.
I also saw him in One Hour Photo....totally creepy character that was sad in a way too. RV, Toys, Cadillac Man, World According to Garp......my mom has those and we've watched them multiple times. All good.
