That's good. Wish my medical problem was as easily fixed. Arthritis is not a good thing to get, especially when it hits you like a freight train at the outset.

I found out that I have it in my knees. I just thought they ached until I had them x-rayed after my car wreck. Now that I know, they seem to bother me more. Groan and bear it is my motto too, LK.

Right now my hands hurt, are swollen, stiff.....damned rain.  I can barely turn the key in the lock and turn the doorknob.  Bad enough when the knees start in, the stairs at home seem to add more steps when I'm not looking but my hands not working is really cramping my lifestyle. I have so much to do and can't do it!

I hope things settle down soon. Are you allowed to take aspirin when things get aching badly, or does it interfere with other meds?

So far I'm taking some advil....hoping not to overdose. So far no interactions. The doc said it might take 2-6 months to 'get you stable' whatever that means. I'm hoping it's getting the pain down to a dull roar at the worst. Getting used to the stiffness will be another story.

so last night my glasses broke. I'm using an old pair and they are not bifocals so I'm having a hard time reading anything. and this morning when I passed the glasses store there was a sign that they were closed and moving and would reopen next week. argh! have to see if I can find another place, or when the sores near where I live are open

Oh no! You're in the city, so WalMart probably isn't a good suggestion. The ones around here have a surprisingly good optical shop. Electrical tape to patch up the old ones?

no Walmart in New York City. Manhattan or any of the other boroughs but I found a place a few blocks away from my office, had a thorough eye exam, which I hadn't had in years and arranged for new glasses. they should be ready in a week. meanwhile I'm bringing the broken ones in today to see if they can fix the problem (nothing some elctrcial tape can fix unfortunately)

When I broke my last pair I used some two-part epoxy to glue them back together. Since it was a broken hinge I added a nice decorative button to hide the glue. Lasted almost 2 years! Maybe they can glue them back together until your new ones come in?

I've really killed some glasses over the years. I've started buying those bendy frames and re-using them for several prescription fills. I normally wear contacts, so I only buy glasses about every three or four years. Unfortunately, since my eyes are getting old, my prescription is changing after being stable for almost 20 years. Bifocals, here I come!

the store is supposed to be fixing the old pair. there is a band that fits in a groove in the bottom part of the lens and attaches to the frame so it shouldn't be too hard. I was hoping they'd be ready last evening. I have to call to see if they are ready now.
I am getting the lineless progressive lenses like I had last time and this time I've also opted for transition lenses

Shoot, we used to re-string rimless lenses (that's what it was called when I did it) while the person waited back in the day when I was an optician.  If that's all that's wrong with your glasses, they should have them back to you in no time.  It's basically just a little bit of fish line that needs to be pulled tightly around the groove in the lens, securing it to the top metal of the frame.

I like my Transitions lenses, although I wish they would lighten back up a little more quickly when you go inside. They also don't darken much at all if you're in a car. It must have something to do with the sunlight coming through the windows.

well.I got my old glasses back. and I'm happy. no more nose against the computer. They couldn't do it right away because they were busy and I couldn't wait, I was there on my lunch hour. still, I'm glad I had the exam and new glasses because I've been putting it off too long. sometimes you just need the right impetus.

Glad you only needed new lenses, and have no glaucoma or stuff like that going on. I was really surprised when they told me I had that with this last exam.

Yes, I have been on latanoprost since my eye exam in April and my eye pressure is higher now that I'm taking prednisone for the arthritis than it was when I was first diagnosed. I shudder to think how high that pressure would be without the drops. One very good reason why I'm weaning off the prednisone a lot faster than the arthritis doc scheduled me for: it's raising my eye pressure and BGLs. His schedule would have me taking it until next Valentine's Day. In the meanwhile, it's preventing me from filling my meds for the allergies, asthma, and migraines ("you're over your 4 per month limit").

well, I found out yesterday that I am being downsized- they gave me 2 weeks notice and I believe will pay me through November.
Don't know what I'm going to do.
I can't afford to retire and don't know who is going to hire a 63 (almost 64 year old ) obese woman.
I am also totally unfamiliar with the process of looking for a new job. haven't had to do that in over 30 years.

Again, I'm so sorry, LK. Can you go into something part-time? I hate to admit this, but I'm not quite sure what you do for a living. Will they offer any help in getting a resume or placing you elsewhere?
