Tomorrow is the Mutt Strut for the shelter. It's a lunch and fashion show that raises money for the shelter. The best part is when all the shelter volunteer guys dress up in the outfits (doesn't matter if they are guy or girl outfits), and march up and down the runway. They are always very goofy. It's a good time.

No guys strutting today. But the dogs and cats did walk down the runway to show off their great coats. Smile

I went to see a live broadcast of Giselle from the Bolshoi at University of Richmond. It was fabulous, and REALLY affordable. What a great way to spend the afternoon.

Sleep in (or try to) since no school today, walk to the library so I can collect some red/orange/yellow leaves for my front door (we have a door decorating contest going). FINALLY cleared out that overflowing previously unknown inbox in the gmail (had over 16000 in it when I started!). Job hunt online, look up tiny house stuff (wrote to one about maybe getting a job building and/or designing them--we'll see if they reply).

Found out yesterday my grandpa was readmitted to the hospital and will have to go into a nursing home. He did NOT want that. Now he is majorly P.O.'d at my sis and me for not relocating to FL on a moments notice for who knows how long. We'd both lose our medical coverage if we did that but he won't listen. What use would I be crippled by arthritis and blind from glaucoma? But this means no inheritance of any kind so my dream of a tiny home is mostly dead now. Grandpa won't even speak to me now either. Sad

My cousin in FL won't return my emails either. She looked after grandpa all these years, phoning to check on him every morning. Occasionally having him over for dinner. I think she's P.O.'d at us too for not being able to help.
Work this morning in 2 layers it was so cold. We might get to 60 if we're lucky. It's 55 out there as I type this. Supposed to get down to 30-32 by Friday morning! affraid

The people I emailed about a possible job building or designing tiny houses has not replied yet. I want a tiny house of my own design.....but can see no way financially to be able to do it now. I'll be stuck in HUD, tons of confusing contradictory paperwork, at the mercy of others who screw it up, and no privacy. Crying or Very sad

I have mom now talking about tiny houses, how we'd be freed from HUD's silliness. She joked as a truck and a semi went by: the truck was my tiny house and the semi would be hers.
Worked in the cold both shifts, took some stuff out of the storage garage, gotta dig out some winter clothes for tomorrow morning (or I'll freeze standing in line!). Then it's sorting, washing, and canning LOTS of pears. The one pantry lady who will remain nameless was throwing them out and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them, she just didn't feel like bagging them up to pass out. Mom helped me "dumpster dive" for those pears.
Still no phone or email response from my cousin or my grandpa.....

Nothing you can do about your cousin. Her attitude is not your problem. As for the pantry worker, what a fool. If the donors every find out about that they will have a lot to day on that subject. You know you should if one of the local news outlets would run with the story if you got a video.

I met a guy from the college for a great oyster lunch at a marina restaurant. Good times. Tomorrow is meeting friends for a tailgate and an early football game. I should get home in time to ride a little before it gets really cold.

Besides the usual: take a batch of mom's stuff to the garage, find my empty canning jars, now off to rest up a bit before work this afternoon.  Canning pears will wait until the weekend. Not all of them are ripe and the ones that are we've been eating as is (after washing them off first). The majority of them will ripen all at once....and canning will commence very quickly then.

Went into the "big city" to get my hair cut and run errands. It's amazing how much I can get done on one run into town now. I used to just stop at various places on the way home from work. Now, I save up a month of errands and do them all in one afternoon.

In addition to the usual I have to get mom and my place ready for two inspections (a week apart) and figure out if I can go to FL to my grandpa's funeral and go through his things for what we want.

Today was Bingo bath day. He smelled like a wet dog even when he was dry. We brought him to the PetSmart spa (where they LOVE him), and went to a really yummy fried chicken dinner. Bingo is acting like he feels so much better after his bath. They found a sore on his side. It doesn't look like something he got from scratching or chewing, so we're chalking it up to rolling around on something. It isn't bleeding and doesn't seem to bother him, so we'll just keep an eye on it.

Had to resort to the prednisone again. The fall leaves have really got the poor dog scratching his ear and tail. But, a prednisone yesterday seems to have calmed all that down. I really hate giving it to him, but it seems to be the only thing that works.
