Both kitties are eating well, but Ray, the little black one, does not seem to be growing as much as his foster brother. He has a big belly, so I gave him a drop of wormer yesterday. I got a digital scale to weigh them, but they're too wiggely to get a reading. I will try that today with a little piece of Fancy Feast to hold them still. If I can get a record of their weight, I can tell whether they're actually progressing normally.

Worms certainly could be a possibilty. A course of de-wormer would probably be no-lose.

I hope that takes care of the tummy issues Ray seems to be having. (I'd be tempted to kidnap this lil one! I LOVE black kitties!)

I remember when we raised a litter of wee kits--when they were learning to eat solids we practically had to hose them off afterwards! Shocked

Their lunch and dinner are now both kitten Fancy Feast mixed with formula. They eat in the bathtub, and I clean them up before taking them out of the tub. They have Kitten Chow in their kennel all the time now, and little Bob is eating some of that too.

Hopefully they'll pass from the "have to eat in the tub" phase to "I'm neat enough to eat anywhere" phase. Laughing

I'm with Fif that I think it's pretty hilarious the babes have to eat in the tub because they're so disgustingly messy. So what's wrong with ME that I also find it flat out adorable? Razz cat cat

Until they learn they have to clean themselves up afterwards......that's a lot of work for one little tongue.

These boys aren't as messy as the kittens I had in August, but I learned from that set that the bath tub has many uses.

I took them in to see the vet yesterday, as the little black kitten, Ray, has been having lots of diarrhea and is not keeping up at all with little Bob in the growth department. Bob was a tiny bit bigger the day I got them, but now he's more than twice the size of his foster brother. He got a different dewormer than I had given him, and he's continuing with the Albon. He seems better today at least.

We had the same problem with our littlest kit in that litter we handraised. Finally got the diahhrea under control, and his growth flew off the scale. Did the vet have a reason in mind for Ray's problems? Glad to hear he's a little better today.
What chances for pics of these two now?

The vet thinks his problems are related to his digestive problems. He gave us a different wormer to use, and kept him on Albon. He checked his heart, and that is normal. The kitty has much better energy and appetite today, so maybe we're on the right track.

I'll try for more pictures today.

Neither kitten was much interested in the kitten mush today. They seem to be eating the Kitten Chow that's in their kennel with them, though. It's very hot today, and they seem to want to sleep, although Bobby did run around and play in the bathtub at lunch and dinner time. Ray ate a good bottle at breakfast, and nibbled at lunch and dinner, so I'm not too worried today. It's supposed to be cooler tomorrow, and they'll get time out on the porch in their "condo", so their appetites should return, I hope.

Sweet little Ray passed away during the night last night. He had a poor appetite yesterday, but he did eat. He never really acted sick outside of his tummy troubles. I believe that he must have had a congenital problem. I put Bobby in with Cosette, who has a much bigger kennel. He is about her size, and they're having a blast together. Kevin and I will have to bury Ray later today.

I'm so sorry...

I won't mention that BOTH of these two remaining kittens remind me so much of my Bob and my late kitty Ruby, whose passing was the reason I got Bob many years ago. Nope, I won't mention that... If I could do any more without upsetting the current bunch, I would absolutely do it. I have been battling a little jealousy with the three of them and I couldn't imagine what an additional two would do to the balance of power!
