make that three....only i bet nobody ate the dogs the way i did.
i had a little bit of saurkraut left, a spoonful of chick peas (I ate the rest of the can for lunch) and some crackers that were all smashed up. i took a tv dinner tray and cut up two dogs into it,put on the kraut and chick peas and baked it for about 15 minutes.l when it came out i dumped the crackers on it. really wasn't bad at all!

Probably leftover hotdogs for dinner. My mom cooked them in a pan until they were well browned, the closest we could get to having them on a grill. Not bad either.

if you have an electric stove or a toaster oven you can sort of grill them...i used to use the electric burner to cook my hot dogs when i had a kitchen but no pans to cook with....now i cook them right on the rack of the toaster oven and they look and taste pretty grilled to me.

These may not have had the grill marks on them but they were nice and almost blackened in several places, very tasty.

Tonight I'm having fish, just not sure if I'm frying or baking it yet. It 'volunteered' by falling out of the freezer when I opened the door to get some ice last night.

got dinner tonight...rice and beans (not the tex or texmex style though).mostly rice...the beans weren't bad though. (picked out the beans with some soda crackers)i heated up a couple toaster waffles and put some of the grape jelly i got at the store today but i'm still hungry. (i couldn't pass up these HUGE jars of jelly for $1.67! but think i need to talk about that in the other saving money section).

Saturday dinner turned out to be spare ribs! Tonight it's chicken in the crockpot since mom had to clear out some freezer space. I imagine Bijoux will be in the kitchen a lot today! Gotta keep that chicken from running away.................LOL Laughing

Did this one tonight. Very simple but surprisingly good. I cheated and used the seasoned almond slices you buy in a pouch for salad topping, so it was even easier. Also, I have no idea about texmati rice. I used the basmati I had on hand.

Sounds YUMMERS!!! I need to give it try. Texamati is brand of
long grain rice sold here in Texas. If I remember correctly it is also
grown here.

never heard of those seasoned almonds!
as for Texmati rice i think that is a brand of rice i saw when i lived in the south. i was thinking it might have been the rice that came in packets that were already seasoned (like they had Jasmine rice, red beans and rice etc) but i think i'm wrong..think its just a brand of plain rice.

if you have access to those packets of Red Beans and Rice (its almost like a tube and the package is gold foil..i think the name sounds Indian) they are great cooked up with some kielbasa (aka polish sausage..or poolish saaausahg with my midwestern accent don't ya know)Wink

(i was writing this while Sue wrote...so i guess i'm right..its a brand of rice!and i bet it is grown in TX..a lot of rice if grown in TX!)

You're thinking of Mahatma. It's a kit that is very good. I love
their saffron rice. Zatarains(sp?) makes a killer red beans and rice
kit.

that's it!i never can remember the name of that rice! i used to eat a lot of it in TX and i think i might be able to get it at the store i go to.
i think Zatarans (however do you spell it)is too hot for me...its spiced more Cajun.

i splurged on some cheese and had a toasted cheese sandwich THEN they brought me down spiral pasta that had a tiny bit of sauce on it...so dry i wouldn't down a bite...sorry,i'm horrible. i feel bad that i can't eat this stuff, but i think the cheese sandwich not only will sit better in my body but it will do my body more good than pure carbs. (and i don't understand a TON of pasta with a tiny bit of sauce)

does she make them by hand or just cook the bagged stuff? if you make too much from the bagged stuff next time buy a smaller bag! otherwise you can always divide a big bag into two ziploc bags. dried noodles aren't something that will go bad on the shelf!

i have no idea what i'm going to eat tonight...could be another toasted cheese sandwich. last night's one tasted good;)

She used the storebought noodles but has never learned how to use a tiny bit of chicken to make a small batch of chicken n noodles. Tonight she's cooking a few pieces of pork roast she found in the freezer that should be used, and making old-fashioned barbecue from it. Should be good.

geez, we always used noodles to stretch the meat back home. you can take a whole lb of noodles and add a can of soup and two chicken legs and feed at least four people! (add some onions and peas to it aNd you've got the whole meal!).

i might be getting french toast for dinner...i went upstairs to get the clothes to wash and andrea asked me if i liked french toast. I asked Who DOESN'T like french toast! (actually, the only bad french toast i've ever had was some of the frozen put in the toaster kind that i picked up the cinnamon version and not the plain version...there was just wwaaaayyy too much cinnamon on that stuff! i liked cinnamon but this was one really thick!)
