Does chemo still make you sick or do you eventually adapt and get used to it? Just wondering.

I hope you won't have to keep having it for years and years.

How's Beans? Do you have a Christmas tree up yet for her to check out? Bij sniffed but didn't touch the one in my mom's buildings' lobby.

In re-reading page 8, I saw that I basically repeated my last post!  Oh well...maybe that is reflective of how long the news took to st in, LOL! The chemo never made me feel ill.  When I was getting three chemo drugs in the beginning, I felt 'high' the third day after.  That's about it.   Unfortunately, I'm on the "years and years" plan Question

Beans will show up in her topic shortly  :-)

The following is an update on my condition which I posted on Facebook, both bad news and good news  :-)

"The follow-up MRI to last summer's brain tumors that I had on Wednesday did exactly what it was supposed to do.  On Friday, I learned from my Neurosurgeon that I had two new brain tumors.  Each is approximately seven millimeters long, so, not nearly the animal with which I was dealing last summer. If the tumors were even two millimeters smaller, they would have been undetectable.  They were found at a stage where they can be easily zapped out of my head like the tumors of last summer!!  On another positive note, I apparently have a raging case of Metastatic Breast Cancer that I am not feeling AT ALL.  For the moment, I am going to go with that."

OhMy....definitely a mixed bag of news.  Glad you can get the brain tumors zapped. Can they do anything about the breast cancer?   Is it removable? I am glad you have no pain.

A year ago last September, the offending breast was removed. The tumors in my brain are a metastasis of my Breast Cancer and not Brain Cancer, thank God!

Next week, I have an appointment with my Radiation Oncologist. That's when I'll know more regarding my treatment. This time around, it should be easier on me.

Now that is amazing. I thought it always hurt at least the first time since your body isn't used to it.

I was plenty frightened before the procedure!!!

Yesterday was a busy day. My Medical Oncologist thought I might have to see the Radiation Oncologist a lot sooner than I was scheduled, so Dr. K got me in to Dr. A's office right away. After the checkup, I got the facemask made that keeps my head still during Radiation. These brain tumors should be gone in early 2015 :-)

Re: Moving Forward with Cancer

Late yesterday afternoon, I had the two tumors zapped out of my noggin.  Again, the procedure was nearly painless.  I say nearly since, this time, part of the face mask seemed to be burrowing into my head and that hurt. Perhaps strangest of all, was how normal the rest of my day was.  I drove myself to the Cancer Center, got zapped.  Afterwards, drove myself home with a stop at the grocery store on the way.  The balance of yesterday was basically spent putzing around home.

That's amazing. I keep thinking that it's so cool that you have such a normal life even though things are so far from completely normal. Smile You're an inspiration.

Thanks! Smile

Today, I learned that I should never schedule 8AM appointments in the winter. I wanted to have the four inches of snow cleaned off my car and be on the road by 7am. I despise the cold and this almost didn't happen :-P

I agree.....schedule for the afternoon so the road crews have a change to clear them of snow and ice. You might have to wait for docs that are running behind schedule but at least you will get there and back in one piece.

I am surprised how you take all this medical stuff in stride with such a positive attitude. You are a very strong person!

Thanks fif! Embarassed  Although, I'd like to think of myself as being realistic, rather than positive.  If I don't feel like the stereotypical Cancer patient when I wake up in the morning, I'm certainly NOT going to operate like that!

I don't know what the stereotypical cancer patient is. I guess the movies want us to think that they are all feel horribly sick, and are heroic. I think you're inspirational because you ARE realistic. It's much better to hear about how life goes on and things are just different.

Yes, I'm speaking to the Cancer patient depicted in the entertainment industry. Quite frankly, that's what I and others around me were expecting. When the first few rounds of chemo were not causing me to be ill and in bed all the time, I was confused.
