RIP SCOOTER

Post by lovekitties on Wed Dec 26, 2012 2:44 pm

Some sad news fr Christmas
On Christmas Eve, Yodel, one of the 2 ferals my cousin feeds and has a shelter for, showed up without her mother Scooter. Upn searching my cousin found Scooter dead in a neighbor's back yard. She seemed very peaceful, not like she was hurt or sick, and they buried her in the back yard.Poor Yodel seems lost and keeps looking for her mom., but at least she has come back and has eaten yesterday and this morning. (before she would not eat until Scooter ate).
My cousin thinks she will be more approachable now that Scooter is gone and they will try to acclimatise her and eventually take her indoors if she lets them
RIP Scooter, a good mother who did not turn away her baby for years

Scooter had her life made a little easier by some kind people. Hang in there, Yodel; they'll help you too.

Thanks, I know the kit (even though she's an adult now) is still grieving and missing her mama.

my cousin says Yodel is still sleeping in her house in their back yard, and eating there but she has been away mush of the time, probably still searching for Scooter. My cousin says she seems very sad.

Yes it is. Didn't Yodel see her mama's body, see her being buried? If not, then for all she knows her mama just disappeared into thin air. Poor kit.

well, Yodel is hardly a kitten, she's at leat 2 years old if not older. Scooter never chased her away and they just stuck together. She wasn't around when the found and buried Scooter, but Scooter was only in the next yard and Yodel had been hanging around in that area before they found her so I'm pretty sure she saw Scooter

Then she's just grieving......and maybe wandering around figuring out how to get on without her. I imagine those two made the rounds to get enough food and attention. Or maybe just taking a long walk to clear her mind and think. I do that sometimes, walk with no destination in mind, just to think. Glad Yodel is still coming for her meals and to sleep there anyway, that way we know nothing bad has happened to her on her wanderings during the day. Wish I could hug Yodel, tell her everything will be okay.
