Well if she's adopted before you move, I'm sure there will be some little kitty urchin that needs you when the time comes. You may find her yourself. They are often attracted to those who will help them.

I know....fate has put a kitten in my path twice, when I had no way to keep them. Cried over both when I had to let them go get adopted to someone else. Remember Itty Bitty Kitty, the one I found at 5 weeks old in front of the library? I sooooooo wanted to keep him.

I remember Itty Bitty Kitty very well.

Seraphina went with me to the petfair on Saturday. It was a very slow day (we blame the Denver Broncos fans) and only one pup was adopted. Seraphina and the other kitties we brought came back home again. Seri did not enjoy the experience much, I have to say, but she was a pretty good girl just the same.

Uf. Sorry y'all went out for nothing. But I suppose it never really for nothing. The kids get the experience, people at least look (and sometimes even re-connect later) and, after all, a pup got a home. That's cause for celebration! One furkid at a time if need be, eh?

The puppy got a really good home, plus we transported 6 puppies and 4 adult dogs to other rescues. The trip was valuable for that reason as well.

It was also valuable in that Seri got to get more experience in traveling in a car. Some folks consider that an asset in a furkid...traveling well without a fuss. How did Seri do in the car BTW?

She just hunkered down in her carrier and tried not to attract attention. She was not thrilled with the idea of travel.

Maybe she'd have liked it more if there was something fun and interesting for her at the other end of the ride.

Seri and I are going up to the Petfair tomorrow. If she doesn't find a home, I'll bring her back home. She and some other kittens in our rescue need to be "fixed" soon, and are getting big enough that our vet here can do it.

I know Seri would recuperate much better from her 'big girl' surgery if she was in familiar surroundings ie: your home gbste. She knows and trusts you. Once she's healed from that, a forever home won't be too far off in the future. I just wish it were mine.....

The vets here aren't that great at juvenile spay/neuter. The "big city" vets use better anesthesia, smaller incisions, etc. If she's adopted, she can be spayed in the Springs w/in 60 days. If she comes back, we can get her surgery here; it will just be a more difficult recovery for her. I can probably get her and a couple of other kitties into Happy Cats Haven in February. She'll be adopted very quickly from there.

The vets here do both large and small animals, but their focus really seems to be large animals. The small animal part of the practice brings in the money, so they keep that going for that reason. They don't seem to be up to date on the small animal side. We had a new vet for awhile, also large and small animals. He is younger and was really good, but he burned out, got religion, and closed his practice. He runs his family's ranch now, and only does vet work on mission trips to Africa.

In a way I understand "G" . Still it's sad to see the small
communities suffer.

Yeah, the little ones need vets too. And why can't the vets keep up with the latest in small animal medicine? I'd think that would be a requirement just like human doctors having to keep up to date with advances in our care to keep their licenses.

In our small town, the vets lose money on things like Seri needs. To be honest, the vets make their money spaying/neutering hunting hounds and giving rabies shots. They do not make enough to keep the latest equipment and medications on hands. Those things are phenomenally expensive. I bring my kitties to the local vets for their routine checkups, and they are very happy to refer us to the bigger city vets for anything special. I, for one, appreciate them. They agree to stay in our area and to provide very good care to my little kitties. They also are honest about their limitations, which is something very valuable.

Seri did much better at the petfair this time. She was able to "hang out" with a very nice volunteer, who took her over to the store cats' cat tree, and let her test out a few of the really cool cat toys for sale there. I got a good picture and I've updated her Petfinder page with that.

I replaced her Petfinder pic with one from the Petfair. The others I took of her were blurry (go figure.)
