Sabi's saga continued
We have the same deal with our HVAC people. I'd never leave them, though. They've been really good to us.
We had warnings and threatening skies, but no rain or booms. On the radar, it looked like the storm just split in two and went on either side of us. The boys are outside eating after-dinner grass. I'm going to bring them in after computer time. All is quiet and happy.

That's what our rain has been doing, going around. Everyone but us gets a sprinkle or two. Hopefully we'll get some despite that today.....it's so dry.
Without some rain your boys won't have much after-dinner grass to munch on. Here's to hoping we both get some rain!

I think Sabi is popping an abscess on his bad foot heel. He was ouch yesterday, and there's a suspicious sore on that heel. It should open soon if it isn't open already. It's probably the leftovers from that bruise he got when he ran around in the storm. I gave him a bute and put on his boot this morning. He wasn't too bad. He looks more comfortable this afternoon. I'll check things when they come infer dinner.

Oh, Lord. Keep us posted. Do you bandage something like that before putting the boot on so it doesn't rub?

Just as he was doing so well.....he had to get silly and hurt himself and cause this. I hope it drains and heals quickly without any drama.

Well, it did drain on its own with no help from me. He is much more comfortable today, and got to go out without his boot. He's still a bit more sore than normal, but he's definitely improving. Tomorrow he'll get the boot since he'll be out longer than normal. My husband and I will be going out of town, and we won't get home until well after normal inside time.

Do you have any topical meds to put on that open abscess? Or oral antibiotics to help prevent infection from an open wound like he has now on that foot?

Antibiotics don't help foot abscesses, so no meds for poor old Sabi. I do have some topical stuff that will draw the infection out, and I'll keep that on for a few days. After that, I'll keep the bandages off to let the air get to it. He traveled well today, and seems to be comfortable enough. I took off his boot for the night to let the air get to the abscess, and I hope that it will be on its way to better tomorrow. The good thing is that the vet chiropractor is coming, so he can take a look and see if I'm doing the right stuff.

That's good. I hope he says you did exactly the right thing here.
When my Miss Kitty got abscesses (of the scent glands) they gave me topical to put in the hole and pills to put down her throat. The pills were a royal and literal pain for me but they worked.

All is on the mend with the foot. He was pretty comfortable today. He wore his boot because the trainer's soil is harder than ours, so he had to shed the shoe for the vet. He got his back all straightened out and a few acupuncture needles in the ouch foot to help that. He feels GOOD now. He is running around the pasture. I need to go out and bring them in for sleep time. I don't want him wearing himself out.

He showed off as guard pony today. We had the generator people come to rewire the panel box so the barn lights up instead of the storage barn. That way the ponies will have lights and fans if we get another power outage. When the truck pulled into the driveway, Sabi led Casper over to the gate to make sure no one weird was invading. That reminds me of when he was a youngster. He was always the first to check out new people at the boarding barn.
