I've had an awful cold and, since work was slow, came home early. Didn't have anything new to read so started Wuthering Heights, an antique volume my Mom passed on to me. I've never read it before or seen any of the movies. Well. My my. Quite melodramatic and a bit stilted, but curiously engrossing. I don't think I like any of them, and they certainly don't behave very well! Shocked

a real classic!. I remember the production with a young and brooding Timothy Dalton playing Heathcliff. (Be still, my heart)

Hi jeane, I was just reading that the movie ONE FOR THE MONEY starring Katherine Heigl is coming out on DVD. I never realized that the movie was based on the Stephanie Plumb books. I know you like them

I read that! Very powerful book, I thought. Fictionalized, of course, because who knows what was said back and forth, but historically accurate, from all I've read; Alison Weir is a respected Tudor scholar. Thank you for reminding me of her, Fif. I want to read more of her books.

I once again ran out of book before I ran out of weekend, so took Catcher in the Rye off the shelf. I'd forgotten how raw and poignant it is, wrapped in Holden's barely maintained blase demeanor. I only read about a fifth of it; I don't think I'll read any more just now. It's just too painful.

I'm reading her story "The Life of Elizabeth I". It picks up where the Lady Elizabeth book left off.

I hate driving to and from work, about a 25 minute drive -- it's so boring! I finally figured out that books on tape are the answer. I've been listening to non-fiction books I don't have the patience to read on my cosy weekend reading afternoons -- I want mysteries and fiction for those times. But non-fiction is perfect for the car. I just finished The Orchid Thief, the book that sparked the movie Adaptation. It was informative, engaging and very entertaining.

I read Games of Thrones and Clash of Kings again and both are by George R.R. Martin. I got the books for my birthday and my parents still don't know that I bought the electronic versions of said books last year when I had a gift card. I started to read Exile by R.A Salvatore yesterday.

That looks like a great campaign! And some likely book reads for our reading lists, too. Wink

I'm re-reading Barbara Rogan books at the moment. They are VERY good. As for my car "reading" (books on tape, er, CD) I'm listening to Alan Alda's autobiography, read by the man himself. Apparently there are 2, and this is the first. I've been a MASH fan 40 years (or however long it's been), but I had NO IDEA of Alda's upbringing. A burlesque trunk baby? A schizophrenic mother? Taught by nuns? Oy, who knew? Needless to say, it's fascinating.

I read a couple of cozy mysteries my friend gave me, one is a crochet theme, the woman who solves the murder is a member of a crochet group . she also works at a bookstore where the group meets, and in this book is in charge of a "creative retreat" run by the book shop, that offers workshops in crochet, knitting, creative writing, tai chi, and some other stuff, The woman who is supposed to be giving the crochet workshops is murdered.
they include some crochet directions and recipes at the back
the other book is an embrodery theme. the woman sleuth has just opened up an embrodery shop and someone from the opening party is found dead in her storeroom the next day

I also read the Lost Hero by Rick Riordin, book number one in his new Heroes of Olympus series (a continuation of the Percy Jackson series
