LK, are you planning to see the movie version of the first installment The Hobbit when it comes out this December?
It's several years since the last time I have the book.

That reminds me I haven't read any of that in years. Right now I'm reading Sneaky Pie
for President. Will comment on it when I'm finished.

oh, yes, I will see the Hobbit movie when it comes out. , although I'm a little peeved that they are making 3 movies out of this little book and they only made 4 out of the huge Lord of the Rings (which I loved by the way). I do know some characters from the LOTR movie, that are not in the Hobbit movie will be making appearances, like legolas and frodo) so apparently they are doing some expansion.

Fluff, if you want you can have my copy when I'm finished with it. It's an extra that I picked up

The Hobbit was at one time my favorite book so I am also peeved that they are turning a book of less than 400 pages into THREE movies! They are totally going to ruin the simple and charming story! Anything for money... Evil or Very Mad

Finished Sneaky Pie for President. This is reminded me why I feel in love with the
series to begin with. Not as strident as her later works. She has a lot of great information
in the book, while none of it's new material, still it's well presented. I highly recommend it.

I do own a copy if the Hobbit. I am also upset that three movies are being made from one book. I want to see the movie as well.

and there is so much that they had to leave out of LOTR. they could have made a whole movie on the Scouring of the Shire alone.

When someone wants to makes a film adaption of a book, I don't expect every detail be included in the movie. I know there was originally going to be two movie. I thought that one movie would be based on the Hobbit and the second movie would serve as a 'bridge' between Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring. I thing three is overkill.

Anyway, I started on The Shining by Stephan King today.

Finished Sneaky Pie for President. Waiting for Walking Dead: Road to Woodbury. Couldn't find the first book of the series to borrow anywhere though. Good thing I know the backstory, and each book is said to be a 'stand alone story'.

I am reading the three books of The Kane Chronicles-from the author of the Percy Jackson books. The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire and The Serpents Shadow. It is about the Egyptian gods.

Had to take time out from Catherine The Great to read the latest Louise Penny mystery (it was the darkest one yet... more human drama to come in that series, for sure) but returned to Catherine last weekend. I'm about halfway through the 19 disks, and Catherine has finally secured her throne as Empress of Russia. Sounds like things are all hunky dory, doesn't it? But international politics, and intrigues at home, means no crown sits easy. I'll tell ya, there's no drama like the real thing.

I heard some list on the radio of the 10 scariest movies of all time, and The Shining was #1. Needless to say (y'all know me) I haven't seen the movie or read the book. Fluff, what did you think? Was the book #1 scary?
