Watched a tape of Silence of the Hams last night. Spoofed several movies in that one, Silence of the Lambs and Psycho in particular.

I kept thinking that they didn't have AC then eigher, and they didn't sweat, just sort of glowed. LOL
Tonight I'll try to watch the first season of Sherlock, but since that's set in the modern day I won't continue to be in a 1920s English Fog. LOL
speaking of Sherlock, I was reading about the American version which will debut on TV in the fall- they are also doing Sherlock Holmes in Modern times, but it's set in NYC- He's working for the NYPD as a consultant, and living in Brooklyn and Watson is a woman

right! I knew about Lucy Liu but I forgot the name of the show. I wish they actually used the Brooklyn nabe (even if it is Brooklyn Heights ) to film, but they actually did the exteriors for where he lives in Harlem. Not the same at all. LOL. Holmes will still be keeping bees, which is okay since they made the law last year that allowed bee keeping in the city. Would look bad if he were keeping bees illegally while working for the cops. LOL

forgot to mention in an earlier post that besides Downton Abbey I also watched another Musical I borrowed from the libary.
It's Always Fair Weather which was from 1955 , and starred gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. I've never seen this one before. its about 3 GIs, best buddies in the war, that vow when they are discharged to meet up again in 10 years to prove they will always be "best friends" 10 years later one is a stuffy adman from chicago, one is a roadside diner owner in Schenectady and one (Gene) is a 2 bit gambler . And they can't stand each other, but things work out in the end. It was filmed in Hollywood, of course, they didn't do much live filming, but it was interesting to see the depiction of NYC. Elevated lines (none left in NYC- although there are some left in the outer boroughs, but they were all torn down in manhattan (except for the High LIne which was a freight line- part of that is still there and has been converted into a park) I digress. still plenty of Bar and Grills left.
alot of the street scenes reminded me of Edward Hopper paintings
anyway, the movie was enjoyable, though there weren't any tunes I recognised..

i stayed in the office late and watched a couple episodes of Longmire on the net. I was disappointed that Lou Diamond Phillips was not featured more prominantly. When I got home in my mail was the latest issue of Cowboys and Indians, with Lou Diamond Phillips as the coverboy. Very Happy

that's a real shame. You can't run all over to a branch that has the DVD you want to watch.

That IS a shame. You should ask them about it. If enough people enquire, maybe they'll re-think.

Self indulgent night tonight, watched my own vid of the Star Trek 2NG movie First Contact, the one with the Borg Queen. Read somewhere that she shows up in the Voyager series (which I am currently watching) so I wanted to refresh my memory of her.

Hello? *taps microphone* Hello? Any Trek nerds out there? *crickets*

*sigh*

I loved the original, and also TNG, but Deep Space (which we call Deep Dish), Voyager and Enterprise (did I miss any?) were not my cup of tea. I also have seen several of the movies, and have enjoyed them in varying degrees, but I guess I'm not what you'd call a ST nerd, because I don't know if the Borg Queen ever showed up again. It didn't sound unfamiliar when you mentioned it, so maybe she did. As I said, I couldn't quite embrace the Voyager series. The only thing that really ticks me off is that when I try to get an email address or whatnot with my surname in it, it's usually already taken by some ST nerd! Suzzzz should understand this. Yes?? First Contact was a good one..... You'll find the Borg queen in Season 6, the last episode and Season 7 premiere. It's a 2-parter. The Borg are recurring off/on after the 3rd season when they aquired Seven of Nine as a crewmember.

Does this make me a nerd? I love scifi.

Lol, Mary! That must be a pain! I'd forgotten the Generations antagonist's first name. I'll have to watch that one again soon, too!

Lol, Fif! It makes you more of a ST nerd than I, as I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm hampered by the fact that for decades I refused to countenance anything but the original series. Several years ago, on a chance channel surf, I found Next Generation playing and got hooked. Since then I've completely abandoned my principles to the point that I've seen all of TNG, Deep Space Nine, and am now working my way through Voyager.

Before I go on and on, I'll stop and just say thank you to you both. Nice to know I'm not completely alone out there. tongue Besides, must finish posting by 9:00 when MeTV shows Original episodes on Saturday nights.

And tonight, after that, Svengoolie has the incomparable Don Knotts in the incomparable The Ghost and Mr. Chicken!! ROTFL

Yes, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken is on soon! And on what would have been his 88th birthday too! I'll be watching! ROTFL

And Suzzzz, because it's such an unusual surname, I was quite puzzled when I couldn't use my name here or there, because someone already had that username. And then I began to look into it, and found out why... Rolling Eyes

Right now I'm wrapped up in Doc Martin. PBS is running the original movie. I love it
Doc is a little warmer than he is in the series. A lot of fun. TV Happy

I've seen the Doc movie, too, and really enjoyed it. Interesting to see the parallel universe version of the Doc I've come to know so well. Perhaps it's a tribute to Martin Clunes that I love them both!

Not sure what we're watching tonight, depends on whether another storm rolls through here as predicted and knocks out the lights again.
