Re: ....Listening to?

Just by chance the other day I found a local AM station on my car radio that plays nothing but stand-up comedy clips 24/7. Just one after the other, a few minutes of each. How great is that? The sound quality is erratic (AM, after all) but it sure helps lighten the commute! clown

I only heard about Clint, but it sounds like he's ready for the "home" if you catch my drift.

Listening to a very odd combination: Rossini overtures and Souza Marches. Not at the same time I hasten to add. Shocked

BC, brought something up in her blog today and I thought I would throw it
out here. Comfort songs. Mine is Let it Be, especially if I'm getting ready to
do something stupid that runs through my head. Also Gregorian chant. It not
only soars but soothes.

The classical station is really shinging this year at Christmas. In addition to the usual fare
they have played medival and reniscanse carols. Also they have played music that is traditionally used in the lesson and carol services. It's been really cool. too bad they bust it off on Dec 25th.

Sorry for the "ear worm" Sue! (I wish there was a better term for this - I don't like the idea if ear worms!)

Along with doing nothing I've got the classical station on as usual they really come up with some great stuff on national holidays. Today it's not only pattoitic music but they are featuring American composers.

On Labor day weekend the classical station has the top 101 countdown. The station is WRR 101.1, you can stream it. It's really good along with the usual warhorses there are some real gems.

Cool! Might have to give that a go during tomorrow's bus trip to college football. (William and Mary vs. VA Tech -- go Tribe!)

I've been listening to Jimmy Buffett on XM Radio. It's fun to have on in the car.

I almost always listen to the radio show, "Those Were the Days" on public radio on Saturday afternoons. It's a compilation of old radio programs, like The Jack Benny Show, Fibber McGee & Molly, The Great Gildersleeves, etc. Before that show, there's a two-hour program called "The Swing Shift." Swing music, of course.

WDCB Radio

If you can stream with your internet service, here is a link to the public radio station that airs the Swing Shift at 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Central Time) on Saturday afternoons.

WRR just finished their classical countdown. They do this ever labor day weekend. This year though they retired Beethoven's Ninth. It's won every year for who knows how long.

The classical station out did themselves this year with the Christmas music. In addition to the top forty tunes that we hear all the time they did Advent carols, music for Chaunahkak(sp). There was also sorts of good stuff.

This past week being Holy Week, the classical station showcase a lot of liturgal(sp) choral music. They played everything from Bach masses, to various requemims(sp). They also played Gregorian chants and plainsong. They also did music to commerant Passover.
