suzzz you're welcome for the site. i've never heard him live, but i'd like to....he does the music for Penn and Teller's vegas show (his wife also is the person i've spoke of who trains rats). all four of 'em are cool people (two i've met and two i'd like to meet!).
One of my dreams is to one day go see P&T in Vegas.

had on the oldies station from the next townover for a while cuz they played christmas music all day. (and a lot of it was very unusual...like liberace reading Night Before Christmas)but they go off air at sundown so i switched over to the station from nyc that's playing christmas music.i wonder if they will keep playing til new years....i hate the abrupt ending of everything (but mark down sales) at midnight on Christmas. i need christmas til sometime in Jan.(what's that day, sue? the epiphany or something?around Jan 5th?)

in an hour i'll switch over to Prairie Home Companion and hope they do a repeat christmas show.

I stopped by the used cd store today. No I'm not getting a leg up on Christmas but
then again. Anyway I bought a copy of Simon & Garfunkel's Parsley, Sage, Rosemary
and Thyme. I know the album dates back to the mid 60's it's still good and not everything
on it is feeling groovy stuff.

With this being Easter our classical station has really dug some cool
stuff out of their library. The ran Bach's St. Matthews passion in it's entirety.
They also dug out an old stand by composed by Rimsky-Korsakoff. Called the
Eastern Orthodox Overture. They just played a lovely piece by Rachmonoff that I
need to get the name of.

PHC right now...after this there's a show that's only been on a couple times.its interesting....people telling stories in the old folk type way. Steve Burns (the dude who was Steve on Blues Clues who left the show to go off and become a alt music star will be telling his story tonight. going to stay on after PHC to hear him.
I can't remember the name of the show but it has the word MOTH in it.

here's the page to WNYC's schedule page....
http://www.wnyc.org/shows/
lots of interesting stuff on there.
but here's a link to page of the show i was listhening to
http://www.wnyc.org/shows/moth-radio-hour/

and,in case its been moved by the time you get in here..
here's the link to the story steve did last night
http://www.wnyc.org/shows/moth-radio-hour/2011/may/28/
i hope that takes you to the show..he was the first story that night.
i thought he might be doing something more about what happened when he left Blues Clues and what he's been doing since. but it was a good story he told. (even though i knew a lot of it already) if you don't know steve you'lll enjoy the story, if you only knew him as the character on the kiddy show you'll learn he's different....and if you know him as the musician..well its still interesting;)
the story after his is very good as well...i only stuck around for those two. but the second one is a almost makes you want to cry but makes you laugh too and gives you hope story.

Thanks for link, Jeane. I'm going to try to find the program locally. Listened to the classical station all
day. Lots of Americana. I really enjoy it when they showcase American composers.

I always have the classical station on in the house. Today they were playing movie
soundtracks. They played music from Casablanca. They also played a Mozart claranet
concerto for either quartet or quintet. Anyway the clairnetest was Benny Goodman, really a cool
piece.

The classical station just finished playing Song of India by
Rimsky-Korsakav. Not sure on the spelling but look it up on You Tube.
Very lyrical but haunting melody.
