Bij, you are wonderful. Antonio watches out for me too. He even tastes my milk, etc
to make sure it's up to standards.

Bij tastes my mom's milk, especially if it's after sugary cereal. Loves it then. But is has to be 2% or whole, he won't touch skim or 1% even with sugar in it.

Got greeted by a mew coming from my chair yesterday. Here's Bij warming it up for me, how sweet is that? Gave him a few kisses and ear scritchies before picking him up to hug and rock. Mom and I had some 7 grain bread with butter and of course Bij wanted some. Not the piece mom was eating off of but the whole untouched piece. Guess he thought that one was his. If we weren't careful he'd have eaten it all too (with consequences later in the litterpan). He sure loves wheat and multigrain bread. Something in that bread worked like rocketfuel cause he was off like a shot, playing with plastic grapes, pingpong balls, and a schmouse. Got some nice snuggles while mom and I watched a movie on dvd, and Bij got a nice walker ride too when we went to check the mail. No nitenite kisses but a great purr in my ear instead.

When Bij eats the X-mas nougat, does it get stuck in his teeth at all?

No, he licks it first to get it all soft and gooey, then literally bites off lil pieces of it like we'd do. So dainty and delicate lil bites, then back for more. I made sure to stock up on them so hopefully they'll last until next year (I like them too!).
Bijoux was my lil cuddleboy all weekend long. Got nice greetings at the door, loads of snuggles (along with imitating a furry earmuff draped over my head purring), great playtime, walker rides, escorts to the door. Got a very good greeting when I brought over the turkey and stuffing Sunday, he was licking his lips, singing up a storm, and escorted me to the kitchen. He was a good boy though, and waited patiently for lil nibbles of turkey off my fingers straight from my plate, in fact, he got the very first taste. Didn't want any cranberries but seemed to like the sweet potato with butter too. Had leftovers last night and Bij 'helped' me eat my dinner, then asked for crunchies for dessert. Sure had fun with his new toys, and old ones too that I found under stuff cleaning. Best part was the snuggles though, he was soooo sweet. Must've known I was in pain from all the sorting of my fabric and craft stuff (it's a 3x5' closet stacked to the ceiling) and wanted to make me better with kitty vibes. It worked, I felt much better mentally if not physically though the kitty body heat sure felt good. I even got nitenite kisses every single night!

That turkey sure was good, and the butter on the sweet potatoes too. Loved my new toys, and made sure my Lori knew I appreciated them and her. I made sure to give her lots of snuggles, kisses, and purrs too....Bij

Just leaves more cranberries for me!

Bij was warming my chair for me when I walked in, but was quick to come see me at the door. Got a nice cheerful hello mew, and carried him over to hold and rock him some. Loud purrs straight in my ear along with kisses (his whiskers sure do tickle!). Got some nice snuggles in before he asked mom for dinner (too early) so he settled for crunchies instead. Mom got more of his Mesmero the Hypnotic Cat routine but it didn't work, he still had to wait for wetfood. Bij asked for walker rides a few times, even sitting there once giving the most tiny pathetic mews you ever heard he wanted to go out so badly. Played some What's Under the Footrest and Fetch the Schmouse with him as a distraction. Got a nice warmed lap with napping tired-out Bij for a while. Wetfood Revue started an encore show, and I heard his tummy growl. Soooo, he got his dinner a bit early, much to his delight. Got a big beef-scented thankyou kiss and more purrs. Lil guy wanted to go for a post-dinner walker ride but mom didn't feel like going out. So I gave him a huge hug and kisses, said nitenite, and settled him into my still-warm chair. That seemed to ease the disappointment of not getting a ride just then.

Mom said Bijoux was velcrocat for her all day long until I arrived. Then he was my velcrokitty. From the moment I walked in he was all over me, in my hair (which was very fresh-from-the-shower wet) purring and rubbing away, then draping himself over my head like a hat. hehehehe silly boy Got some wonderful kisses and snuggles. Mom told me he was laying in the crook of her arm, chin resting on her chest, and she was lightly rubbing behind his ears. He obviously loved it. Whenever she stopped, he'd take a paw and try to pull her hand back to rub him some more. I told her he clearly was telling her "Hey, you aren't done yet, get that hand back here and back to work!" She said what a lil slavedriver he was. He wanted body massages from me, and back scratches too. Also gave us quite a lil number dancing around...for crunchies. More snuggles, some playtime, then the Wetfood Revue started early. Not five minutes after I told him it was way too early, he did the same routine for mom, with the same results. A tad miffed, he went and ate crunchies instead. Curled up in the cuddlebed to watch me read a while, until the commerical mom said he would get dinner came on.....I swear he understood every word she said and was holding her to her promise. Bij wanted a walker ride and got one to escort me out of the building. No nitenite kisses and he actually mewed at mom to keep going, it was so cold outside that when he felt that chill coming in the door when I opened it to go he wanted to leave asap. Can't say as I blame him for that either.

Bijoux loves playing hairdresser.....he'll "style" my hair, try to remove mom's curlers, applies Eau de Bijoux so it smells good, the whole nine yards. Laughing

Got a nice greeting last night, he wanted to go for a walker ride as soon as I got my coat off. Mom said not yet. So for a loud asking for crunchies (he got those), and a request for snuggles. Mom had bought cupcakes so I let him have a lil frosting, and when that sugar kicked in (which didn't take long) he was playing like a maniac. That pingpong ball and schmouse didn't stand a chance..... Very Happy Got some more snuggles, then mom got some, then he decided to nap on the back of the couch where he could keep a close eye on both of us at once. Asked for wetfood as soon as he woke up, not even 7 yet. Mom told him it was way too early. We got encore after encore of the Revue as he tried to make her change her mind. Finally at 8:30 mom gave up and gave him dinner, to a trill and a black flash beating her to the kitchen. Ate and ate and ate until I thought he was going to explode....but got a huge burp out of him instead when I rocked and patted him (I just knew he had a burp in there). Got a couple thankyou kisses and a request for a walker ride. This time he got to go with mom to the computer room and watch a few kitty videos (and Bij did watch some of them). Started pulling on the leash so I took him home. He wanted to finish what was left of his dinner and take a nap, so he was settling in with mom when I left.

I am so glad you liked them. I watched her make them to be sure they were up to my high standards. They really are fun to play with. I made sure to give her plenty of snuggles, head butts, purrs, kisses, rubbings, you name it. Mom gets tired of me doing that sometimes but Lori never seems to get enough of me. She doesn't tell me I'm too hot to lay on her, or I'm too heavy, or not now like mom does. I even asked her for my meals and playtime and walks, to give mom a break.

Bij didn't greet me at the door last night, and mostly ignored me and mom both until dinnertime. Guess he was all tired out from being up all night the previous night. He napped in the cuddlebed next to me though for most of the evening, and let me scratch and rub him all over until he was nearly asleep. Got a nice escort to the door and the kitchen.

Our kitties have been sleeping to avoid the cold. Petie has finally discovered the big cat bed and Gateway/GK are just burying themselves under any covers they can find. I guess they'll emerge once it isn't frigid.

That might not be until late April or May! Mom reports that Bij gets cold in the middle of the night--every night-- so he snuggles deep in the new fleecy blanket she bought after Christmas. She can't move without disturbing him and he is trying to hog that blanket. Said he was almost shivering last night when he came to snuggle with her and his paws felt like lil ice cubes.

Had to go greet Bij in bed last night, he was all curled up staying warm. He was purring before he noticed I had drippy wet hair, and he buried himself in it up to his shoulders. Quite a sight to see him draped over my shoulder with only the back half visible as I walked to my chair.....and his tail twitching 1000 miles an hour. Got a long snuggle with him in my hair, then some more on my lap. Bij got up a few times, once to ask for crunchies, once to zip around the place when he got a good whiff of caramel frosting (he never tastes it but only sniffs), and then to ask for wetfood. Didn't get my escort but did manage to get a few nitenite kisses.

Who knew smelling caramel frosting works like rocket fuel on kitties? Must be the sugar, absorbing through osmosis.

Re: BIJOUX

Post by fiffur on Thu Jan 05, 2012 2:05 pm

I went looking for Bijoux the moment I came in the door (he was heading for it from the bedroom when he heard me come in). I'd had a really bad nightmare the previous night: that mom building was being ripped up, everyone in her hall had their doors open and stuff out in the hallway blocking my path, and mom had given Bijoux away. His safety cage, carrier, bed, and toys were all on the free table in the community room, and I grabbed them. I went from apartment to apartment looking for him and yelling "Where is Bijoux? Where did you hide him? He's mine!" I woke up all sweaty, tears in my eyes, blood pressure soaring, and heart racing. I nearly got dressed to go make sure he was still at mom's (this was about 2:30 am Tuesday). Bij seemed to know I needed reassurance as he let me hold and cuddle him for a loooooong time without a fuss. I got loads of snuggletime, even to the point of him ignoring mom for most of the evening. Bijoux cried pitifully to go out for a walk, so we went down and back the entire downstairs of the building. Got more snuggling when we were done with that and some What's Under the Footrest playing with a crocheted butterfly. After some crunchies he asked for a walker ride and got it. Then after his dinner he asked to escort me to the patio, and got to see me off. I even got nitenite kisses.

Bijoux seems to know I need the extra reassurance right now. I told mom about that nightmare and told her she better not dare to even think of giving him away. Bij cried pitifully at the door again to go out, but didn't want to go for a ride, he wanted to walk. Dragged me straight off to Brad's door and cried at the door, wanting in. Poor baby, he misses Brad so much. Took him for a walk down the hallway to the computer room and helped mom look up his favorite treats (whiskas crunch). Took Bij back for some snuggles, watched a movie with him on my lap, gave him some fresh catnip (that sure made him happy!). My sis still has some catnip next to the foundation of the house that hasn't frozen yet, it's still growing if only slowly. VERY rare to get fresh catnip here in January, and Bij seems to know it. That catnip sure had him zipping around for a while, flipping toys, running, mewing weird....at one point he was running so hard when he got to the kitchen floor he slid! Shocked Only slowed him down for an instant (What the heck just happened to my feets?) and he was off like a shot again chasing after toys. That of course works up an appetite so he gave a short song n dance for dinner, thankyous all around, and crashed in the cuddlebed next to my chair. No ride on the walker to escort me out, but mom told me she took him for a long ride late the previous night after I'd left.

How are you doing? I'm glad Bijoux is snuggling and giving comforting vibes.
Speaking of fresh catnip there is a small frail plant in the pot on the porch. It's from
a survivor from the plant I bought and Jeane's seeds. Hopefully I can nurse it back to full
bloom.

We talked to Brad over the weekend....he's doing really well and hopes to be home by the end of the month. You know how it is: as long as the insurance will pay for him to be in there they'll keep him. Bij on the other hand, can't wait for him to come home! He keeps crying at the door to go out, and heads to Brad's first thing and doesn't want to leave his door. He doesn't understand.....I wish we had a key to his place so we could show Bij that Brad isn't there.

Bij has been alternating being velcrocat, zoomkitty, and kitty blanket. Mom complains he's attached at the hip, and to go bug me instead. I make sure to greet him very warmly with hugs and kisses, and tell him I don't mind if he's hot laying on me. He really likes to perch on my shoulder draped over my head, so that must be the new normal way of snuggling with me. He will lay in my lap for a while, but only after spending considerable time on my head. Very Happy Got some really cute play action last night, he found a plastic grape and a schmouse he hadn't seen for a while. hehehehe Bij insisted on a walk (to look for Brad again) and a ride. He goes to sit in front of this other guys door now too when we go for a walk, he met the guy last week and must've liked him. Probably hoping Brad was inside visiting.......great song n dance for dinner after he decided he wouldn't be seeing Brad.

Mom says Bij was like this when I was out of town visiting my friend (remember, a few years ago?. He was constantly going to the door, the window, then to her asking to go out....to look for me. Now he's doing the same thing about Brad.

I hope he's home soon too, Bijoux's driving us both nuts begging to go out to go look for him. The look of sheer disappointment when he sits at Brad's door with no answer to his Let Me In mews......so sad. You can even see him droop his tail a bit as he walks away. Poor baby, if it wasn't so darned far to go see Brad I'd take him there even if I had to smuggle him in!

Bij was right at the door to greet me, and ask to go out. He'd already asked mom a few times, but she said no as she knew he'd only go straight to Brads. He had been in his cuddlebed by the window until he heard me coming down the hall. Got a nice mew, a kiss, some purrs, and my now-usual furry headwarmer. Hard to hear mom when all I can hear is purring (with his ribs pressed up against my ear). Bij did snuggle in my lap for a lil while but I guess I either wasn't warm enough or cushy enough-he went back to his lil bed. I did get some kitty attention when I had the porkie rinds out and he wanted some dinner. Short but intense song n dance for wetfood, face in bowl as soon as I put it down with a mew of thanks. No escort home, no nitenite kisses either.
