Never hurts to have a backup, just in case it is needed. Who knows, you might need it yourself to get from the barn to the house if the skies open up unexpectedly.

That is a good idea. Smile

Envoy's wearing his winter blanket again tonight. It's cold again. The forecast says it's supposed to warm up a bit by the end of the week, but after our 80 degree days/60 degree nights, this weather is awful. It's seasonal, but BRRRR!

I know, it's cold here too, damp, rainy. I have a tarp for the bike but I have been known to throw it over myself to get from the garage to the apartment stairs on more than one occasion. If you kept an extra umbrella in the barn, just in case, you might only have to resort to the sheet in really really bad downpours, you know, the kind where you're drenched to the skin in only a few seconds.

Here's to hoping the rain is never bad enough to make using that sheet yourself necessary.

Chilly here, too -- I've been glad of my sweatshirts this week so I'm sure E is glad for his.

Must say, too many years I complain that Spring is non-existant, we go from cold to hot in a few weeks. This Spring has been interesting. It started in late December and has been roller coastering ever since. Brave new world. scratch

The weather is definitely strange. I left Envoy naked last night because it was supposed to get warm. Today was almost 80 degrees and rainy. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler and dry. Then more rain. Wheeee! The roller coaster is definitely going.

Envoy's hip seems to hurt him. When I was brushing him, he flinched a little when I brushed over that area. I don't know if he did something silly in the field or if he's working too hard. I do know that a nice, slow warmup seemed to help and he worked well. I didn't push it because I don't want to hurt him.

Maybe he bruised himself deep in the hip doing who knows what in the pasture?

Ditto on the weather.......we feel more like early March here today. No weather has been 'normal' here in over six months and counting.

Just wondering... could this be related to that day he was so sleepy he didn't even want to eat? (looking back, it was the 12th) Maybe he was hurty then. But that's probably nonsense if he's been normal since. More likely he boinged when he should have bonged in a Spring Fever dance or stepped on a soft spot or hole in the field or something. Poor love. Keep us posted, okay?

We don't think it's an injury, but more like muscle soreness. He was good today, but we were both pretty tired from a long week. Light ride tonight. He gets tomorrow off because my husband and I are going to D.C to see some sights. It's been a while, and my brother-in-law is visiting the city. We figured we'd get some visit time.

I ordered some stuff for joint health to give Envoy, and we'll see how it works as soon as it comes in. The vet ordered, and it should be here soon.

Have fun in DC! I'm sure Envoy will be fine. We all get a little sore from time to time, especially after a long week. No harm in putting him on joint stuff. It's really made a difference to Weez, and did for all my dogs.

I rode today to check things out. Ribs still hurt and my knee is definitely not quite right. But, the doctor gave me pills, so I will keep just walking until things get all better. Envoy was a champ. He babysat me. I think he knows that something isn't quite right, and he's being a real gem. Other horses walked down the street, and he just stopped and stuck his head up to see who was coming to visit. Gold stars for my boy. Smile

You have a true friend in that sweet guy. I'm 100% sure he knows you like the back of his hoof, and would do anything to keep you safe and comfortable as long as you're ailing. And after.

He really is a friendly guy. I'm really glad he got that trait. Some horses are really aloof. They are normally good, but they just don't get very attached. Envoy is perhaps not the best sport horse in the world, but he's the best sport horse in the world for ME. Very Happy

A horse like that is a true partner. Worth more than his weight in gems and precious

A horse like Envoy who is sympathetic to an ill partner is worth more than all the blueribbon high pedigreed ponies in the world.

Envoy is home! Sabi and Casper are very excited to have their big little brother home. He is ecstatic to be out in the tall clover. Well... It's regular grass, but he's still happy about it. All the boys were bouncing out today to enjoy the cool weather with minimal bugs. They're napping inside now, but will go out for the night since it's such a nice night. They are going to enjoy the weather while it holds. The heat and bugs are coming, I'm sure.

Poor Envoy got a bite from an ICKY bug. He has a big lump on the underside of his neck. It itches too. I'm putting Benadryl liquid on it because he can't reach that part of himself to EAT the stuff. I hope it helps the itching.

If he can't lick it, how about some cortisone cream? I also recommend swabbing it with Listerine. That's my treatment for skeeter bites, and it takes the itch out really well unless I scratch. Poor boy!

I'm glad they're all home together, though, and I'm sure they are, too! cheers How long is his furlough?
