someone please shoot me...............................the only part of me that doesn't hurt is my hair. I spent 9 hours last night hauling heavy furniture for mom, and have to put it back starting tonight. If my mom's managers think her place will look like a magazine spread by Friday they can kiss my @$$!

is your electricity out, Jeane. One of the guys I work with has a power outage since the storm.
I was worried about you because of all the trees and branches coming down. Not much damage in my neighborhood from what I could see, but our parks really suffered. The Botanical gardens in the bronx were devastated and it's estimated 1000 trees in Central park alone were lost or damaged.

work today, bank to get my check cashed then home. and either do some delving or fall asleep on the couch

More hauling of heavy furniture....after we buy a new tablecloth, a pair of roller shades for the livingroom (while we can easily get at the windows), and a few other things at the store.

That's fascinating! Sweetgrass baskets are very much part of the art and culture of the Southern low country (coastal regions). Where I go to the beach in South Carolina, women weave them and sell them in roadside stands. I have several, and wish I had more. They are simple and beautiful. I'd love to hear about your class at the museum!

Suzzzz, when I was researching sweetgrass baslets on the net this morning I found out that besides being a native american craft, that it was also a staple in South Carolina, an old Gullah technique fron the slaver days

Sue, Im posting a link to my teacher's website

we were making one of the smaller size baskets. I've only just started it. It's alot of fun

Working the polls tomorrow, so I will be getting up before the crack of dawn and get home at who knows when. I have no idea if I will be in here tomorrow or not. It depends how tired I am. The elections are on the local level this time. Next November, it will be elections for Governor.

Dead??? The primary this year was dead. Only 99 out of 400 some odd people in the precinct voted. Today, 186 out of 400 some odd people voted today. There were a few stretches where no one came to vote.

government sucks cuz its only the rich folks who get the jobs....hard to chose from which ultra rich idiot from the next ultra rich idiot....gawd i'm gonna get ripped apart when i say this...but i gave up on it decades ago. the last straw was when i went in to vote and the people there opened the curtain while i was voting to yell at me cuz i was taking too long! (too long cuz i was reading what was before me and actually voting for who i wanted to vote for)....never again.

They never should've done that to you Jeane. You have the right to take as much or as little time as you want when you vote!

I'm hearing a lot about a new "national financial transaction fee" that's supposed to start after the November elections. You directdeposit your paycheck they deduct 1% of it off the top, you take the check in and cash it---1% taken off the top, you write a check to pay a bill--yup you guessed it--another 1% fee taken from your account. They call it the Deficit Reduction Act and this is how it works. And NO amount of money is disallowed from this: social security, disability, unemployment, birthday savings..........all get the 1% "fee" taken out of it. Makes stuffing the mattress like in the old days look pretty good right about now.

More trying to get mom's place in order............and my LIHEAP appt.
