Re: More orphans

I'm glad he gets to stay where he's comfortable for the holidays. He deserves a great home, but a big adjustment at a crazy time of year is always difficult. I feel sorry for the furkids who are given as presents. They come into a house when everything is topsy turvy, and it's hard for them to settle in with all that.

Hugs to little Diego and you and Tess too.

I hope Tess is glad to see her buddy back home, even if she won't admit right away. Will you add Bernie to the bathroom mix?

That's too bad, still at least she was honest about it. She put Bernie's best interest above all.

Bernie is getting pretty tame, so I'll probably break down his crate and add him to the mix in the next few days. Tessie runs out of the bathroom and checks him out every chance she gets. He's a little overwhelmed by her, but so was Diego at first.

Sounds like she might, as long as she gets to be the boss some of the time. LOL I'm sorry Bernie didn't get his forever home, but perhaps it's best that it happens when the holiday chaos has died down. At least you get to enjoy him a little while longer, he's such a sweetie. Has he seen the christmas tree yet?

We haven't put the tree up yet. They're calling off school due to snow after lunch today, so if I make it home, we'll probably get it up this afternoon (or tomorrow if school's still out then.) The foster kittens are in their own little section of the house (bathroom plus hallway) for their own protection, as some of my own cats aren't good with babies. They can't get to the Christmas tree from there. It's a fake tree, but it stays up pretty well even if the fat boys climb it.

That's good.....I remember the year when Moxie was a kitten and climbed the tree........and it came down right on top of my sis' head! Ornaments went flying everywhere, and Moxie FLEW out of the room. A few minutes later she came barely peeking around the corner, to see if the coast was clear yet.

I just wondered what the foster kittens would do when they saw the tree for the first time: stare at it in awe, try to climb it, or batt at lower branch ornaments? They've never seen one before in their lil lives so who knows what the reaction would be? Mine never tried to climb the tree, or batt at the ornaments. Miss Kitty preferred to snuggle in with the presents and nap with them like she was a present herself. So cute.

Tess would probably be right up there. Diego would sit back and watch her, and if she survived the climb, he'd probably join her.

Probably best they don't get the chance, then! My first cat, Miss Mizzer, went right up the tree the minute she got the chance. I remember my dad had to sink bolts in the wall and guy wire the tree so it would stay up under her assaults. Hoo, that was 50 years ago! Some Christmas traditions never change.

My sis ended up doing that too, just in case someone decided to mess with the tree again. Her dog got tangled in the garland once and when she tried to walk away the tree came with her. Should've seen the sheepish look on that dogs' face when we saw what she'd done, the garland was still wrapped around her. Laughing

I'll never forget the year that I decorated a full size tree, turned on the lights, then
opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Turned out the house lights and saw four
sets of eyes staring back from the tree branches. santa

Okay Sue, fess up........who did those four sets of eyes belong to?

And yes Suzzzz, Bob should draw that one up. It was just too funny to be mad at Chelbie for long. Imagine a shortlegged, medium sized, long haired terrier mix dog all wrapped up in the garland, tree nearly on top of her, surrounded by a few wayward ornaments sitting on the end of the couch....... and her other smaller terrier mix watching for our reaction on the other side of the room.

Oh, and her house rabbit Samantha used to snitch the candy canes off the tree. Poor Chelbie was taking the blame for that until we caught that rabbit red pawed with a candy cane under the coffee table, chomping away blissfully. Who knew rabbits liked peppermint?

Just finished having a purry party with Diego, Bernardo, and Tess all curled up in my lap. Tess and Diego were purring up a storm, and Bernie thought "what the heck," and joined in too. Looks like he'll be able to join them soon, and I can get the big crate out of my hallway.

Even though Mikey's front paws were declawed, he still was able to figure out to climb up the Christmas tree. It was to the point that the tree was tied to the curtain rod so it wouldn't fall over. I have also heard that he managed to jump into the tree from the bookcase that was conveniently near the tree.

Diego, Bernardo, and Tess went up to the pet fair yesterday. I drove them up in my own car so that they wouldn't have to ride with all the barky dogs in the van. Diego had an application before we left, and his little paws never touched the floor at the Wag n Wash. He went straight to the arms of his Meowmy, snuggled in, and waited until we finished up the paperwork. He has a great family: mom works at home, 2 beautiful and gentle little girls, and a dad who drove down with his family to meet him even though he'd been working all night. Tess and Bernie also had an app before we left, and the people came and spent lots of time with them, but they had been looking at other kitties as well, and decided on cats from another rescue. Tess and Bernie came back home with me. They were really good at the fair and let people hold them and fuss over them, so it was a learning experience for them.

Well, his formal name is Don Diego. Tessie and Bernie did fine, and learned that there are lots of nice people out there who like to hug kitties.
