i don't know what i was brought down but it looked bad and tasted worse...why does hot sauce make everything nasty???(or rather...why woud you make something that looks like hamburger helper, over cook it to the max and drown it in hot sauce?) I had a nice big Ginger Gold apple instead...and some chocolate cookies later.

depends on where the mild salsa comes from..if its from New York City (Sue, do you remember that commercial?) its usually just tomatoes, onions,a few green colored peppers and two drops of hot sauce;) i will take mild chunky salsa and add a can of garlic onion diced tomatoes to it...that's good;) Salsa is a good thing....hot sauce ...well, i really believe that you have to have a certain type of taste buds to enjoy it. OR be raised with it your whole life.

Or no taste buds. Here's my salsa recipe. four to five fresh tomatoes, one fresh chili, red onion
(white is fine but I prefer red) fresh cilantro to taste, fresh garlic, salt to taste. I cook the tomatoes,
the garlic and the chili. Dump it all in a blender, it purree. When that's done I add the fresh chopped cilantro
and diced onion. Salt to taste. This is for a really mild salsa, I prefer mine with two chili's.

Yes, I loved that commercial, schmaybe our wiz at finding things on Youtube will hunt it down for us.

I love those commercials. Do you know that originally aired those in
other markets. They were never aired in Texas until people started talking
about them.

I was reading the other day that in most supermarkets the apples that look so enticing are months old. I hate mealy apples.

had some pork chow mein last night. not sure about tonight. If I go to the library near my house I'll probably get matza ball soup

most fruit is picked before its completely ripe cuz they know its going to take a week or two between picking and getting out in the stores. it probably depends on where you live and where the apples come from (and what time of year it is).
this is the time of year where you can get great apples (and pears!)in NJ and pretty much this whole part of the country. if i were back in MI i'd be going to apple fests;) fresh cider, apple cider donuts, apple butter made in a big cauldron that everyone is encouraged to give a good stir. if i'm lucky they will still have good apples til halloween here. and if i'm REALLY lucky they'll have them on sale the whole time!

so nasty i ate about 3/4 of it sitting typing on the net....needed to get rid of it.i think vanilla ice cream with red devils food cake (SO much better than red velvet!...its red and its CHOCOLATE! and the frosting is much better...not sicky sweet cream cheesey stuff!)shmooshed up and stirred into it would be much better.but i'm too lazy to make the cake to put in it! (and i need to get a mixer....i have a coffee pot...now i need to start looking for a mixed;)....got my eye on little veg chopper.....$20 at the grocery store..but i swear if i went someplace else i'd find it cheaper...just need to chop..er..shop away!)

Porkchops.............they fell out of the freezer when I was digging in there for veggies yesterday, so they 'volunteered' to be dinner today.

I think I might have shared a similar recipe before, but I like lentils so much I'm doing a variation. Good and cheap! What could be better?

Red Lentil Soup

1/2 package of red lentils (use green or regular if you can't find red)
1 box of chicken or veggie stock
1 onion chopped
1 large can diced tomatoes
cumin seed or dried cumin
yogurt for garnish
Optional - Sliced smoked turkey sausage

Put a little olive oil in a soup pot. Add cumin and heat just to bring out spice flavor. Add onion and cook until soft.
Add lentils and stock. Simmer until lentils are soft.
Add can of tomatoes and cook until warm. Add sausage at same time of you're going for the meat eater option.
Scoop into bowls and top with a scoop of yogurt.

sounds good..but is cumin hot(spicy hot)? there are a couple things i've never used cuz i'm not sure if they're hot...like tumeric which is supposed to be realy good for ya!

tonight it was sausage in bread (there's probably a fancy italian name for it...but its sausage baked into bread) and this tomatoes cut up with fresh mozarella........not a raw tomato fan,but the cheese was good!

No but it can be a strong tasting spice so if your not used to it use is sparingly. It can overpower.
Great in scrambled eggs. Love fresh tomatoes, especially if you have fresh basil to go with it.
