If Sabi is confining his mild corrections to those rambunctious young'uns and doesn't seem overly irritable with you, I'd say leave him to it. I'm sure he knows what he's doing, elder statesman that he is. Besides, it's great to hear that Casper is finding his feet and playing with his pal like a happy horse! Also great to hear our Sabi was feeling good yesterday. May he always! I love you

Sabi is still a perfect love to handle. He accepts grooming (although he HATES to have his tummy touched), and likes to untie my shoes. I think he's definitely getting older, but definitely nothing more than expected. His eyes are not working as well as they used to, so he can be a little spooky at night. But, he trusts me when I say it's ok. I really love that horse and hope, too, that he continues to feel well.

It is pretty hilarious. If I wear tie shoes into his stall, he reaches down and snuffles around on my shoes with his lips. He will grab a lace and tug if he can. I'm pretty sure he's saying that shoes aren't necessary. He likes his feet to be bare. Laughing

So he figures your feet should be bare too, and he'll help you off with those shoes if he can. ROTFL

Today was WATERMELON DAY. Very Happy I got a tiny watermelon from my CSA farmer. It was just the right size for 2 people. So, after we ate all the melon we wanted, I chopped up the skins and leftover red stuff and marched out to the pasture. I was surrounded by drooling, munching horses. Sabi had to have littler pieces because of his missing tooth, but he had no problem munching down the good stuff. They wanted MORE, but it's all gone. I guess I'll have to hope for another next week.

Today was thunderstorm day. The morning was beautiful, but BIG rain and loud booms came in the afternoon. I had to work at home because we had some people coming for yearly AC maintenance, so I was able to bring Sabi and the boys in before the weather got really bad. Sabi wasn't worried about these storms. I guess he knew that they weren't going to be bad. I know I'm thankful for the rain. I guess he is too.

Nice you were home and able to bring the boys in before the storms. Too bad that's not always the case, but we all have our jobs to do, includling the boys. We finally got a little rain here, too, and it's most welcome.

Hope your AC passed muster. My AC company called me today to schedule my fall furnace check (we set the date for early October, but it was hard to think about in this heat). They've never done that before; it's always been me who called to set things up as the seasons rolled around. I can't decide if that indicates increased efficiency or economic desperation on their part.

Probably economic desperation to drum up business. Still, good to have those things checked out before you need them.

Oh, no question. I have a maintenance contract and have the system checked in spring and fall. They're a good company, part of a nationwide chain (franchises, I suppose) and have always been very competent. It's just intersting that they called me. You're probably right. I'm sure they're feeling the pinch, like everyone else in this economy, and don't want me defecting to some other company for my check ups.

We're having boomers here again today. How are the boys taking this weather, Becky?
