That's awful. Hopefully there were no injuries just property damage.

No reported injuries. Just lots and lots of property damage. Apparently a sailboat was thrown through the marina office's door. Weird stuff.

Sabi and Casper got to hang out in the rain today. The forecast was for cool, DRY weather. Haahaa! It poured off and on all day. At least they seemed happy to be out. It wasn't so cool that were chilled. They are inside for the night so they can dry off and get some good lay-down sleep.

So they spent the day in the showers off/on? Did they splash around in the puddles too?

Sabi looked like he had been splashing. His white socks in back were dirty. Casper, on the other hand, tried to become a black horse. He's FILTHY. Even though it was sunny all day today, he somehow found black, wonderful mud.

The beautiful thing about summer is the short fur. Easy grooming. Casper isn't nearly as dirty after a day of playing in the pasture grass. I guess he rolled it off.

Sabi is almost sound! (KNOCKING WOOD!!!!) He's a different horse from the last few years. I sure hope this is the end of the bad part of his saga and we can concentrate on his old-age adventures.

Oh, me too. He's been such a trooper for all he's been through. And to think, a few years ago it looked like it might be the end of him.....before the surgery of last resort. He's a great example of what a rousing success that tendon release surgery can be.

That is great news Becky. When I first joined the forums it wasn't looking very

I'm seriously wondering if time has actually performed a miracle. He's doing so well, and I haven't been faithfully using his boot. It's now reserved for traveling. I keep a really close eye on him, but he continues to amaze me. Compared to last summer, he's made a complete turnaround. Keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that this continues and it isn't another false start! sunny

I have been for some time now. Seems the prayers and good wishes are working. Plus, Sabi has proven to be a very very good patient.

Poor Sabi. The ponies were outside Friday night when the storm rolled in. Casper and Envoy came right inside, but Sabi had a panic attack. He ran around and around the pasture and never agreed to be caught. Finally, my husband had to come inside and Sabi was still out. Well... Yesterday he was lame. I am sure he bruised that bad foot with his shenanigans. He is wearing his boot and had bute before bed. I don't think we'll have to worry too much, but he's going to be hoppy for a while. I just need to keep an eye on it to be sure it doesn't turn into an abscess.

OhNo, what horrible luck! Poor Sabi must've been terrified in that storm. ((((((((((((((STRONG HEALING VIBES FOR THE FOOT))))))))))))))))))

Wouldn't surprise me if they prescribe anti-anxiety pills for him now.

Re: Sabi's saga continued

He is improving. He is still quite sore, but he feels well enough to run to the gate at supper time. He hobbles on hard ground, but not as bad as the other day. I think he'll get better. I am still going to watch him really closely for a couple weeks.

I don't think he needs anxiety pills This storm was really crazy. It blew in around 1 AM, and had hurricane winds and freakish lightening. It's that big storm that knocked so many people out of power all over the mid Atlantic. He was only doing what ponies do when they're frightened; he ran. If I had been home, I probably would have brought them in for the night, but since my husband was here by himself, he thought they would be ok staying out. No one had any idea that the storms would be as bad as they were, and the radio/tv didn't even give US warnings. They gave warnings for a part of the state that didn't even get rain. Suspect

I've seen stills and videos of that storm and the lightening strikes are just off the
charts. I saw of clip of lightening next to the capital building and it was just jaw droppingly
beautiful but also very frightening.

Oh, Sabi! Our poor old boy! That was a terrible, terrible storm. Do keep us posted, Becky. Hopefully, he's just sore. Will he see the vet and/or farrier any time soon?

I saw some of those pics of the lightening and damage....unbelievable. No wonder Sabi panicked, I don't blame him. Hope the foot improves. Please give Sabi a few >())))))))> carrots from me. Or a couple >O< peppermints.

Any idea when they'll get your power restored? I heard a lot of people are still suffering in the heat waiting for that to happen.

Re: Sabi's saga continued

Power came back at 2:45 AM on Monday. I hated getting up, but I was SO grateful to get power back. I now need to call and get the propane refilled.

Sabi is improving by leaps and bounds. Thank goodness! He isn't hopping without putting his foot down now. He's still slow, but he is getting back to where he was much more quickly than I thought he would. I guess his foot's health really is getting better. If he can recover this quickly, he must be getting good circulation to that foot, and that's the biggest worry. Go, Roo, go! cheers
