Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
Well let's see now. Started watching a rerun of Cold Case,
then popped in a movie that I rented from the library. Didn't like
that went over the to PBS. Now watching Arsenic and Old Lace.
Cary Grant, Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre. Seen it many times before
and still enjoy it.
No amend that it's Raymond Massey, there is a reference though in the
movie to Boris Karloff.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
I just got home from seeing Toy Story 3 in 3D - with music by my favorite, Randy Newman. That was fun! I've been wanting to see it for some time now, but when I got sick earlier this month, we put it on the back burner.
I have one question, however. Why, oh why must they keep theaters as cold as they do? It was a very warm, humid day, so AC feels good, but they overdo it. How is sitting sedentary in a freezing cold theater preferable to being hot? Cool makes an overly hot person happy, but cold doesn't make them more happy.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
This is hard for me to put into words, it's something I know but hard for
me to explain. First cold air is dry air, they reduce the humidity by cooling
the air. The other thing is that these are very large spaces and that takes a lot
of energy to cool, then you have to account for how many people are ocupping
the space and that is guess work.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
I'll never forget one hot, hot Saturday afternoon, back in 1999, before we had a house with AC, we decided to beat the heat and go to the matinee to see The Matrix. It truly was a blast furnace of a day, after a blast furnace of a week, and we had had enough. Knowing how cool they make the theaters, I decided I'd better not wear shorts and a tank top, but there was no way I was going to put on heavy jeans and shoes, so I picked out a long sun dress, of a t-shirt type of material - cool, yet covered - and off we drove to the theater. As God is my witness, I don't think they had that thermostat set at any warmer than about 50°. So, for 2 hours and 16 minutes, plus previews, we froze our rears off. I was absolutely trembling, and neither of us remembered much of the second half of the picture, due to the fact that we were surely going hypothermic.
How ridiculous is that?

BC in Texas every public place is air conditioned diown
subzero. You never go anywhere with a light shawl
or something.

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
there's two things i could think about movies being cold...one is an old thing...back waaaaaaaayyyyy back movie theaters were about the only places that had ac and it was a treat to go to one in the summer and cool off.
the other....besides taking into consideration about so many hot human bodies being in one space.....there are a lot of mechanical things that put those movies on the big screen. I don't know, they could be spitting them onto the screen digitally from a sattelite now cuz its been like 6-8yrs since i've stepped foot inside a theater. just can't get my head around the fact that i have to stand on my feet work for over an hour just to pay for the ticket to get inside!
BUT if films are still brought in on reels and put through machines those machines can heat up (actually, heat up and melt a piece of film)and also, you need to store film at a certain temps or it degrades.
So like Sue said...bring a shawl...even if you're not in TX:) me...i enjoy the cold. i would sit through movies in bike shorts and a t shirt and take my sandals off!

It is creepy and funny. Especially Massey and Lorre.
BC, the old film stocks were highly flammable. The silver
nitre that was in made them very unstable at high temps.

Dvds can melt in the heat too, and the players work better when in a cool room. Mine works just fine until it gets to around 40, then it complains its too cold.
Arsenic and Old Lace...............what a classic! I love that movie.
Watched the new Star Trek movie Saturday night at Brads'. Can't wait to see the sequel...........

Re: Tonight I am going to watch...
i'm giving it three comics tonight..its it doesn't keep my attention by then i'm changing channels. they're down to the last 7 i think. ...i think they're down to letting the real people vote which helps. (used to be we could vote a LOT sooner and that made it a much better show).
the first guy on here tonight (says he's from NY?)with the blue and white shirt was pretty funny. there's a large guy with kinda frizzy hair i've liked whenever i've seen him. also a skinny guy with glasses who reminds me too much of the guy who does the voice for Spongebob!
years ago i actually got out (well, online) and asked people to vote for a couple people...one was a big guy who wore bib overalls and was just on the verge of homeless (he lived in something that looked like a closet). then there was the guy i believe the next year who has CP. But since that year....its not the same. too many people keep coming back and too many people are pros. the show started to find new comics and now its people who have been in the biz for 5-20yrs. esh!
(sorry...its just something that hits close to chome with me...if they had a show for people who DREW comics then i'd be watching that:) ).

No, not staying at her place since it's still too hot for me to sleep at all. Her bed isn't comfy either and I don't know how to set her alarm clock either. It's only around the block from home so not very far, just takes mom 20 minutes to walk the 1/2 mile from her place over there. Her place is around the block the opposite direction from me.

Not sure if we're watching a movie or not. Last night watched two episodes of Greatest American Hero season 2 before heading out to take care of my sis's furkids last night.
