well, I didn't get much done on the beading project. I've been having trouble with my right arm, and shoulder, in real pain, I did some work at the class last night after taking some ibuprofen. Luckily for me I'm not a beginner at this and only needed a little guidance and not real teaching. i can advance the project on my own. Next week we line and finish the bag, so'I'd better get a move on, especially since I'm being ambitions and bading alot more that the front of the bag.

didn't work much on the bag because of feeling so lousy last week, now have three of the flowers done. I went to the class Thursday, even though i was feeling awful because we were getting the materials to line and finish off the bag. learned a new edging stich to finish off the flap of the bag

I was at Michael's today and they had small wooden birdhouses for only $1. I am going to paint mine and I hope I can find a nice place for it outside.

I can get to that one byu train but it is a long trip, through Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. there's another one in Queens but that's even more inaccesible, and one in Staten Island, and one in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. Nothing remotely near me, and the Rag Shop near me closed years ago, as did the small craft store in Coney island.

I saved a pattern for a lil ladybug from one of those craft emails, and will try it out tonight with some scrap yarn. Might make a nice small cat toy...............I'll have to let you know.

That ladybug pattern: it makes a very small ladybug. You don't have to use a lot of stuffing. Perfect for kitties who prefer little toys, or for littler kitties. Very Happy

still working on the bag. It's slow going. I'm afraid I won't have it finished by Thursday, but hoepfully all the embroidery part will be done. I've got one more flower and the stems and leaves to do on the back of the bag.

went to the latest workshop at the museum and started the new project, a beaded keychain, using a variation of lazy stitch . It's a fairly quick project.

I finished the Applique and am binding the edges now, so it's almost done. I was just reading in Native American Magazine, that the instructor (Jaime Okuma) one first prize at a major native art show.

I'll probably finish the key chain today, and then I'll go back to beading the bad. I'm thinking about what i can use to add a strap to the bag so i can wear it across the chest. The ribbon they gave us for binding will not be long enough. I'll have to go to the beading store and see what i can find, or maybe a trimming store one of my beading mates told me about

I finished the key chain project on Sunday and also did some more beading on the bag project. finished the last flower, need to embellish it with stems and a leaf or two, then line and sew it up. Still not sure what i will do about straps

the bag is about 5 inches square. I beaded one side and am almost finished beading the other, then have to line the bag and stitch the sides and edge the flap.

How long of a strap do you want on it? I'm thinking maybe a nice beaded strap, a daisy chain variation, just use a double strand of quilting thread (that's what I use for beading, it's a lot stronger than beading thread).

Daisy Chain #2

String 6 blue beads on your thread and tie in a loop.
Pick up one yellow bead and pass your needle through the upper right bead on the right hand side of the loop.
String two white beads, pass the needle up through the two blue beads on the right hand side of your first flower and then down into the two white beads you just added.
Pick up 4 more yellow beads. Then pass your needle down through the two white beads you added first.
String a blue bead on your thread and pass the needle through the top of the second bead of the two yellow beads on the right hand side of the loop.
Continue # 2 through # 5 until you reach the desired length you want.

thanks for the instructions, Fif, I've done daisy chain, and I have instructions for several more chains, but I was thinking more of braiding something together, possibly using soutache. beading may be too flimsy, and I'm thinking aof a long strap to go over the shoulder and across the chest
