When do you think you'll go back to bed, Sue?

I don't know. I'm really tired of the couch but i don't want to leave
him alone. I'm sure he'll be fine. I may move back this weekend. I just
like to be able to wake up and check on him.

Is there room to put the mattress on the floor somewhere? Even if you have to take the bedframe apart for a few months to find room for the mattress on the floor? I bet Antonio would appreciate being on the giant cat bed again even if it is a low lower than it used to be.

Not in the living room, he's decided that under the breakfast table
is the place to be. I may try to get him to snug with me tomorrow
on the couch. He does go down the hall where my sleeping bag is
stored and curls up in that for a while but his favorite spot is under
the breakfast table.

Is that where the sunbeam shows up? Or is it warmer under that table?

The sunbeam shows up in the living room. I don't know if it's warmer in the
living room or not. That reminds me I need to call Dr. Izzy tomorrow. Sleeping
on the couch is killing my knees.

My kitties don't stay under the table, but Gateway is awfully fond of lying on the chair that is pushed in under there. I wonder if it's like a neat den for them.

My Bob does the same thing. I think he feels like he's hiding in plain sight. You know, hiding, yet still close by in case anything fun happens so he doesn't miss out.

My Miss Kitty used to do that too! And my sis' cat Moxie does that all the time. Not only is she outta sight, but Maggie most of the time doesn't know she's even there. I think Moxie is hiding from Maggie.

Weezer does that, too. Nesting on the chair under the table make a fine kitty den!

Sue, seriously, either get some help to put your mattress on the floor, or make a ramp/steps for Tonio to get on the high bed. Either way, get yourself back in bed! You're no good to your boy if you can't move! Tonio's not in crisis any more, he knows what he can and cannot do within his comfort zone, and he's firmly established his safe spot. He doesn't need you on the couch 24/7 any more.

Weezer to Tonio: I know! You tried to tell her to go back to bed by sleeping on the sleeping bags, but she didn't get it. Rolling Eyes Purrsons can be so slow. Anyway, hope you're feeling a bit better, cousin. Just take it easy, you'll get there. cat

I tried getting him to snug with me on the couch and he wouldn't. He jumped down from the back
of the couch to the floor which scared me. Y'all are right though I've got to move back to the bed,
my knees just can't take anymore. I'll try it this weekend.

I sure hope he didn't reinjure that joint with that jump. How is Antonio moving around today? I agree a ramp so he can get on the bed is a good idea. Just bodily move him along the ramp up and down and he'll get the idea quick enough. Definitely would save your knees being back in the bed. If he joins you fine.....if not you know where he is and that he's comfy enough there.

Antonio is doing fine, I'll call Dr. Izzy this week and see when he wants to see
him again. He still lame and walks all hunched, I don't think he did any harm
with the jump from the back of the couch Friday. He's snugged up in his den/nest.
I have my step stool set up next to the bed so he can use that if he wants.

I moved back to my bed, I get up and check on my Precious Kitteh Boy in the night.
I don't think he's impressed.

It may seem strange, but Tonio may very well feel more settled knowing you're back where you belong. Kitties like things to be the way they're supposed to be. I'm sure he'll rejoin you when he's better. Do let us know what Dr. Izzy says.

It was so cold last night that I added his throw from the back of the couch
to his den. Also I took pillow and put between the chair and the table to block
any drafts from the door. I'm calling Dr. Izzy about mid morning tomorrow I think
that's when he gets in. He's peed and pooped where he shouldn't have. It was just an
accident and not an indication of something major. Poor Silly Kitteh Boy.

Probably couldn't make it to the pan in the amount of time it used to, and he miscalculated how long it would take to limp to it in the middle of the night. Not hard to do when you're half asleep as well.

Well no more accidents, though he did go into hiding for most of the day. When the Norther
came through it brought thunder along with the snow. So he hid. I also spoke with Dr. Izzy
and he doesn't need to see him till mid Feb.

Yuck! Thunder snow. I don't blame him for hiding. That's what I do when that terrible white stuff comes out of the sky.

Glad to hear your Ma put some draft blockers around your nest, Tonio. Sounds like you guys are having a terrible winter right now! cat

It's been really cold Weezer, and I worry about my boy under the table.
I took his nap mat off the back of the couch and added it to the folded up
comforter and then a throw pillow at the end of the table. I'm using the chair
to keep it on place. Right now he's curled up dozing, Meowmy.

Does he make a little nest with all the throws and things? Petie used to do that when he was an outdoor kitty. He would make little hay nests and stay pretty comfortable no matter how cold it got.

I'm glad so far he's doing okay and staying warm. This winter so far has been unusually cold for you in TX, no doubt. If it gets really really cold I guess you could always add a heating pad or blanket turned on low to keep him toasty down there on the floor. Blankets hold the heat quite well after they've been warmed....I know from personal experience.

Thought I would check in since Antonio is dozing. He's getting around a lot better and
is out and about more. When we have sun he's been in his favorite sunny spot napping.
So far he hasn't made any move to come back to his spot on the end of the couch. When
he's out and about later I will see if I can pick him up and snuggle with him for a while. If
we get another spell of bitter weather like we had at the end of December and part of this
month then I will consider getting a heated pet blanket for him.

Isn't amazing what rest can do? I hope Tonio agrees to snuggle some. Bitter temps are on our way to our state. I'm pretty sure you're in for more winter.
