I try to groom Meowmy's but she says that I'm being silly. Still I try.
Today we snuggled on the couch and she gave me toys to play with. Tonio

My meowmy will sometimes let me apply Eau de Bijoux to her clean hair but she won't let me style it for her. My Lori lets me do both, so I reward her with lots of purrs.

I had to laugh earlier Tonio found a string/shoelace. Anyway what ever it
was he was having a wild time. You should have seen the look on his face.

Enjoy, Tonio! Personally, I have a long, fat red string Ma zipped from the bottom of a sweatshirt (she likes 'em loose) that lives in the hallway. I attack it whenever I want! It's great! Flies all over the place! Twisted Evil

My Ma's first cat after she left home, Raina, (a truly beautiful Siamese, I've seen pics) got hold of a necktie one day and it became her favorite toy & companion. She would attack it, disembowel it, sleep with it, and drag it all over the place. Ma says she used to trot through the house with her "snake" in her jaws while it's long "tail" passed between her 4 feet and trailed along behind her. Wish we had a pic of that!

I had so much fun with my string, right now I don't know where it is.
Meowmy says she will get me some ribbon when she runs errands this weekend.
I hope she remembers to get me my favorite snacks, I really don't like the new ones. ~ Tonio

Be careful, kitteh moms, about leaving strings loose and unsupervised. One day Bobby wanted to drag a string with a tin foil ball around the house, so I let him. Later on, I came into the dining room to find him caught by the paw with that string, which somehow had tangled around a chair or table leg and he got all twisted up in it. I'm so glad I got to him before any circulation had been cut off.

Ribbon is a hazard, too, if they swallow it. That stuff we use on prezzies can cause havoc in their intestines (lots of warnings from pet sites every year at Xmas). Weezer's "string" is a very hefty woven cord; I don't let her have regular string for longer than I can watch her. Rubber bands, either.

Weez: Geez! I'm not going to swallow it! It's not a dadgum mouse, for heaven's sake!

Ma: No matter. No ribbon or string for you, and that's that. Evil or Very Mad

THE STRING is like a shoe lace. Right now I don't know where it is.
Anyway is that size all right? THE STRING seems to hang out on or near the
couch.

My neighbor's kitty ate a rubber band and even though they tried to save her with a very expensive surgery, she didn't make it. It was so sad, and my neighbor feels tremendously guilty to this day. Sad

And remember when Bijoux ate that ribbon and ended up in the kitty ER? Or when he ate that string? I'd be less worried if it was something like a piece of rope, too big to swallow.

i sometimes wind up wearing rubber bands home from work....i've been putting them in a drawer so i guess my paranoia was well founded. rip little kitty and all others remember rubber (and plastic as well!) is NOT cat food!

Well around rubber bands aren't a hazard but twist ties could be. Luckily i don't buy that
much bread or things that have the ties on them. So far I haven't seen THE STRING, like I say it
looks like I shoe string but I know it's not.

A shoe-string-like thing is probably okay, but I'd keep an eye on Tonio while he's playing with it (IF he ever finds it again!). Thing is, some cats are just players, some will proceed to eat what what they've just "killed," and sometimes it's not predictable. I've known Weezer for 15 years and she's never chewed on a string, but I did see her start to eat a rubber band once so those are banned. All we can do is keep an eye on them as best we can, but they will suprise us. I do remember when Bij ate the string -- wasn't it a curtain cord of some kind? Whoda thought a cat would eat such a thing??

Yeah, it was the emergency pull cord that time, kinda like window blind cord, and the ribbon was off a fwipper toy that wasn't put away. Thankfully both 'passed' in a few days. We take no chances: no ribbon, no cord, no rubber bands, no twist ties, no milk bottle rings, no plastic bags (yes, he's chewed on those too), you name it. The only thing he hasn't tried to eat is my yarn. Go figure.

next to me on the couch. Despite the heat he did get some outside time
today.

Hi everybody, despite the heat Meowmy and I still had fun this weekend. I didn't
get as much outside time as I wanted Sad Caturday, we napped and played. I got some
cream cheese and butter. It was yummy. Sunnyday we spent the morning on the couch and
Meowmy had her stinky water. I made her really happy when I hopped up on the back of the couch
and tapped her on the arm. She hugged me and gave me treats and then we played and then
snuggled and played some more on the Giant Cat Bed. Tonio

Hey, Tonio! Sounds like a good weekend. Hey, outside time can be overrated when it's THIS hot! Ma had a birfday on Caturday but we didn't have any people intrusions, so it was fine. For her birfday I did deign to sit in her lap for a bit while she was reading, and later I made a big effort to hack up that furball that's been stewing around for a while. Frankly, I thought she'd be more pleased with my prezzie than she was, but there's no accounting for humans. Oddly, although she was clearly glad to see it, she seemed more interested in me and how I felt than in the furball itself. Go figure.

Weez, you should see how she behaves when I talk. She worries and fusses over me.
I'm just trying to tell her something nice. She acts like I might be sick or something. Glad you
got rid of the hairball, they can be discomforting. I usually gak mine on the couch. Tonio

Very true, Fif. I heard somewhere that cats don't meow to each other in situations where there are no humans present, so if they meow, they could just be talking. It doesn't have to be a complaint. That said, Bobby has a very distinctive, mournful wail when he's about to gack, so I know it's coming. No

I'm honored. Really. Urp

Weezer does that mournful wail, too, before she gacks & gacks. I suppose seeing the hairball at the end is worth it, but it's pretty distressing for all of us.
