will try to put a link in here of the needle/hook i'm looking for. lion brand yarn is here in NJ and they're not badly priced BUT they don't have the needle that looks like a knitting needle with a crochet hook on the end. there's a new needle/hook they call tunisian which is long like a knitting needle but has a hook on both ends. i could use one of those BUT i'd have to tape up one end so the stitches woudln't fall off. (someday i'm going to get one of those needles (I did have one back in TX) and figure out how to go back and forth with it cuz they say that's what its for.
esh...rambling!
i remembger when the rag shops closed...that was a good store cuz it was cheaper than micheals but still had what you needed.
though micheals could...if i really wanted to walk far on my day off...be reachable its on a major expressway (worse than the turnpike behind us i walk home on)...i don't think there's any sidewalks over that way. its insane that i'd have to take three buses each way to even go there. (Only know that cuz we went past it when i was going to jury duty years ago)so it could take me as long as 3 hrs each way so i know what you mean about the long trip!

worse comes to worse i COULD knit it...its just that the afghan stitch is less stretchy and you can do the embroidery on it easier (and probably make straight lines more easily on it). there's a lot of straight lines i'm going to have to be embroiderying on for the TARDIS!

That I survived my yearly clothes shopping expedition. I also found a better type of clog to wear in
the kitchen. It was more expensive than crocs but the store doesn't carry them anymore. I also had a really
great clerk. Very helpful and wasn't snitty when I said I couldn't afford the more expensive brand. Even better
these are made in the U.S. cheers

I've tried on Crocs flip-flops, but I can't wear any of that brand of shoe because they're so W-I-D-E! I have a AA width foot. But they do appear comfy, even if they're not fashionable.

Those would probably have fit me BobCat, my foot is so wide sometimes standard wide width shoes are a bit tight.

Right now I'm thankful the monsoon rains and hail have stopped--for now.

I bet you're right. I saw the mob at one of the malls, People in retail don't get paid enough
anyway but damn they don't get paid enough to put with that craziness. Jeane, I would only
do it once a year anyway.

I'm thankful that there'll be another Glen Campbell CD and a world tour before his Altzheimers really kicks in. Hoping to get tickets.

Not the sort of thing I'd joke about Jeane. Sad to say it's true. In June 2011, Campbell said he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease six months earlier. He also said he intended to do a farewell tour before retiring from the music industry.

oh bob that's sad....but at least he knows what's going on. maybe they found out soon enough that it won't progress so hard and fast. alzheimers as bad as it is isn't the same as it was a decade ago. (but its a hard way to live and in some ways a harder way to die than cancer)

i'm thankful, as frazzled as my brain seems to be at time, that things are okay up there between my ears for now;) also thankful i made it through a hard day at work (associates who have been there only a few months or a few years yelling at me like i was a newbie and an idiot)and that i had tomorrow off so i can rest up;)

I'm thankful we didn't get the thunderstorms originally forecast for today. We did get heavy fog though.

I'm thankful that the eathquate yesterday was relatively minor damage wise, and all that happened in my apartment was a metal lunchbox falling off a shelf, and not a whole bunch of stuff crashing down like in some other parts of Brooklyn

well i was told that the first houses on our street..that are lower down the hill but still above the street that runs like the top of the T in front of ours....had 4" of water in their basements. but nothing here and i didn't see any water in the streets...even where the water normally pools on the turnpike (and the cars splash so hard the water goes over my head!) there was only the slightest puddle.
that being said....there were trees and branches down all over the turnpike yesterday (so i was told). BUT they kept our store open.
there's still flooding all over the place...even the news is talking about my town and the surrounding towns by name. i'm just very lucky that this is an area that i've never seen a flood in.

I've been worried too, also, since they say the floods in your town would probably go higher than usual. still keeping things crossed as they say some of the waters are still rising

well,i haven't seen any flooding in the area i walk through...i spend 99% of my time in about a 2 1/2-3mi strip of street so i really don't see much. haven't heard if the mall is open...the main mall here was built in a swamp and if there's flooding sometimes its closed for days!
