Thanks Sue. It was alot of fun and a good time seeing friends I usually see only once a year. And I missed last year so it was doubly welcome.

while i was in Michigan my Dad was organizing his Local Memorial Day parade
That's him marching with the other vets (he's in uniform, waving his cane- white beard and paunch- I never realaized how much he looks like Santa. LOL )just before the golf carts carrying the vets who cant' march (we are talking about a retirement community- most of them are in their 80s and 90s, God Bless 'em.

Saw him! I liked that he wore the uniform and kept step. And, though he waved, it was very dignified; more like a salute to the watchers. Very cool indeed. Thanks for sharing it with us, LK!

I'm really proud of my dad. he's 87 years old, and was zipping along even with the cane.(faster than I can walk) My cousin, who was down in Florida recently says she thinks he uses it more in sympathy with my step mom, that becuse he really needs it.
Other than organizing the Memorial day and veterans day parade he volunteers at the VA Hospital and organizes care packages to soldiers overseas. And he puts in office time every day as President of the condo.

well, Memorial Day is upon us again in a few weeks.
I'll be making my usual trek to Lansing, MI.
I'll have to check if my Dad is doing his usual parade this year and if someone posts it on you Tube again

I have no idea what I'm doing for the holiday yet myself. No library, no work, and most likely nasty weather too. We'll see.....

We often do get inclement weather for Memorial Day, and every other holiday too, it seems. Even 4th of July tends to be cool for some reason. I really have to think about moving... Rolling Eyes

I don't know what we'll do on Memorial Day either. No doubt we'll have my brother over and cook out at some point in the weekend.

I'll most likely be busy getting my mom's place ready for her annual inspection that weekend. They always seem to push it to be the same day as when I have to sign up for unemployment at the end of the school year.

Let's see so far the Memorial Day Weekend, has consisted of a busy brunch on
Saturday, followed by haircut, errands and nap with Antonio. Can't forget dinner.
Sunday I went to Fair Park, snaps later, farmers market. Nap with Antonio. Tomorrow
is a lazy day. Cookout late in the afternoon. Naturally there will be a nap with Antonio.

Mom was busy napping so spent the holiday sorting through the socks and underwear. Had no idea I had so many socks but now they're categorized: summer, winter, and new. Those drawers haven't looked that neat in years. We had bad rainstorms so the parade got rained on. Thankfully it was only light rain during the parade but got bad when folks were leaving for home and picnics.
