now I have to figure out how to use it. And it has to be "charged" by either sticking it into a computer USB port (which I don't have) or buying an adaptor. (TANSTAAFL)

You'd think they'd have given you the adapter with the kindle.

Ain't that the troof! On the other hand, you can get it up and running for much less than the orig price if it's something you want. Or --- Christmas is coming! You could re-gift, with full disclosure of course, to the right candidate.

If you decided to keep it for yourself, you can ask around at the library if there is anyone there that can teach you how to use it.

That's even better! Probably has more experience at using one and will have more time to show you.

now I've just got to have some time. it's been hectic here, placing catchup and I've been handling more bookings since my partner is learing quotations. once she gets the hang of that it will be my turn to learn it

Over the weekend, I went to Half Price Books to sell a small box of books. While I was waiting for my offer, I found Galileo's Daughter by Dava Sobel in the clearance section for $2. Even better that I had a coupon for 15% of the entire purchase. I did get $16 for the box.

That's great!
I've got to get down to the Strand to see if I can sell them some of my books I've finished with (not ex library ones, though)

after 2 weeks of finding almost nothing in the way of change , pennies here and there, I found 4 quarters and 3 pennies yesterday.
Of course I haven't found anything yet today.

Saved money by buying a 10# box of oatmeal for $8.59.....that's much cheaper than buying the little round tubs of it. Quaker Oats too no less. Hopefully they have those big boxes yet next time I go to the store, then I might have enough to last me until spring.

i'm saving my rolled coins until i am absolutely out of money....but right now i'm trying to get my head around putting most of my mutts shirts and maybe some of the pjs up for sale. just person to person and might put them on FB ....don't know...can't even reach up to get the boxes down i put them in now.
also have been getting encouragement to do a few zazzle cards.... the mutts money would go to pay my mountain of bills and the cards would help a tiny bit on the $400 bill i got for Franny on Sat. (I came home from the hospital on Fri evening to find one of her teeth falling out of her mouth...mi forced the folks upstairs to take her to the vet and i got the bill...she had to have the tooth pulled, her teeth cleaned, her ears (she ahd toothpick both have had infected ears for years but money was going to other kitties) and an antinbiotic shot.

beyond these things...i've cut my spending for $25 or less a week including food. but then, right now food is about all i buy. So far only spent $5 this week. I'm getting really good at sleeping and not eating.

they are slowly weeding them out around here as well. They are disappearing from thr subways as more of the lines are getting "bars" for cel phones. also have the problem of people breaking the phones, or jamming them

Around here they removed them so drug dealers couldn't use them to conduct their business. There's one at the gas station here but it's been broken for ages. If you don't have a phone you're screwed.....

last night I noticed the pay phone where I had gotten the $4.25 was taken out. I don't know its just an ongoing removal of the phones or if it was broken (which would probably be why it was spewing out all those coins)

Made a good deal yesterday at payless shoes. They had a buy one get second at half price sale. I bought one pair for $19.99 and the second which was already reduced to $19.99 from $27.99. the second pair was $9.99
