Auntie Suzzzz, GK and I are best buddies. We just like to play boy games. I got my owie when we were wrestling before breakfast. He didn't do it on purpose. We were just giving each other baths, so we are just fine. cat

Yesh. That's it, Auntie Fiffur. He just gets really excited and since he is so big, he is sometimes stronger thank he thinks he is. But, we still like to play a lot. I am all better now and my fur is covering up where I had my owie. Meowmy can't even feel it any more. So, no more wash cloths. I kind of liked those. They remind me of my cat meowmy.

I am glad you're all better. GK didn't mean to hurt you, he just forgets his own strength sometimes. And I can understand how that warm washcloth reminded you of your kitty mommy, it's just like her soft warm tongue that she bathed you with as a tiny kit.....

Wonderful news, furry friends! My meowmy rescheduled my trip to see Dr. Jess. She had something come up on the day before Shanta Day, and now I get to wait 2 months to go. I still have to see Dr. Mike, but that's ok. That office is closer, so not as much CAR time. Cool cat

I'm glad you were able to postpone that long car trip. My meowmy says I need to go see the vet too. Something about these two funny weird hairs I have growing on my sides need to be taken off.....Bij

Gateway went for his annual checkup this week. The vet pronounced him in amazing health. He is very surprised at how well the little guy is going since his heart failure episode. He still has a heart murmur, but no other signs of the cardiomyopathy getting worse. It's unusual for a kitty to do so well, but none of us are complaining!

Gateway did cry in the car. He was displeased, but didn't make a sound on the way home. Silly boy.

Next month, he goes to the cardiologist for the bug appointment. (Wallet is screaming!)

Thrilled at such good exam news! Please explain again why he has to see the cardiologist, too? "Bug" appointment?

I am smiling from ear to ear at the news of his good checkup report! I'm so happy he's doing so well he amazes the doctors..............and he didn't cry on the way home because he KNEW he was going home, and that's always a good thing.

Gateway goes to the cardiologist on Monday. The office has moved, and I hope we don't have to leave TOO early to find it. Gateway will be upset at the long car ride and I don't want to make him worse by getting lost.

What about Google maps and do you have a GPS system?

I have GPS on my phone and will use it. I have a terrible habit of not paying attention to it. I'd rather listen to music.

Another solution is to use Google Maps on your home computer and "map out" the way to go from home to the specific address of the cat cardiologist - that way you'll have a chance to see just what turns lie ahead of you.

The street view function on Google Maps can be a life saver too. If you need any landmarks to set you on your way, you can just print them up :-)

Yes, I have a map and the GPS. I am familiar with the area, but I just don't know exactly where the building is. It won't be bad. I actually have a pretty good sense of direction most of the time, and I am very opposed to being late. We'll get there directly and on time. Smile

We have great faith in you, Becky! No Wrongway Feldman (Gilligan's Island) or Wrongway Peachfuzz (Rocky & Bullwinkle) here!

Prayers for Gateway tommorow. I love you

Re: more Gateway adventures

Post by bpaquet on Mon Jan 16, 2012 9:57 pm

We found it in plenty of time. The building was a bit difficult to see because it's in a crowded part of the road. But, no problems. There's an emergency vet in the same building and there's a BIG emergency sign on the side of the building. Smile

Gateway's heart is doing pretty well. Of course, his heart disease is progressing a little, and he has some scar tissue on his left ventricle. That means that his heart doesn't pump as efficiently as it once did. His atrium remains less swollen than it was at diagnosis time, which is good. So, we are going to monitor his breathing rate 2 - 3 times each week. If he starts to breathe more quickly, we will raise his Lasix dose. If his breathing continues to be labored or quick, we will consult with the cardiologist. This is normal progression for the disease, and he is not in any severe level. He is just showing the effects of having a compromised heart muscle.

Gateway was a star traveller. He cried for a little while, but he found a "cave" in the back seat and just huddled down for the duration. He just wants to be on the floor and covered. I put a fan box in the back seat so I could make a "roof" for him. He was very happy with the kitty cave.

Now we're home, and he is munching crunches and napping. It was a busy day for the little guy.

I'm glad the vet visit went off without a hitch and for the good report. I hope Gateway has many more happy and healthy years ahead of him. I know you and the vet are doing all you can with this progressive condition.

I forget: how old is Gateway now?
