Thanks Bobcat, I'd just about given up on ever getting my birthday on there!

Go into your profile, there's a place at the bottom of the page where you can check to switch off the email notifications.

I tried to look at your profile, LK, and I don't see any reason why you would still be getting emails. I turned off an option for you to get an email when there is a private message (though that's not your problem, I don't think), and you can turn that back on if you want it. I also turned on and off the button for emails to be sent on replies to your message, just to try it again. Hopefully that will do it. If not, we'll think of something else... confused

Wish I could get a pic of Bijoux as my avatar here, but since the library blocks Imageshack too I can't upload a dratted thing. **heavy sigh**

I'll go get your pic from the other site and will change it out for you, Fif. If you still want Earl, you can go back and get him again later.

Re: Navigating the Site

I'm just today seeing little advertisements at the top of the page when I come here. The ads I saw were for Coldwater Creek, where I just did a little Christmas shopping this morning, coincidentally, and for Chico's - both clothing store sites. Has anyone else seen ads on the page? I expected to see ads all along, and all over the place, since it's a free site, but there haven't been many.

Yes. At the moment I have one for credit unions, and when I signed on one for World Market popped up.

Right now I have one that claims I have a new message, and it's for some tooth whitener crap. Now it's changed to one for a credit card from Harris.

I see new ad activity, too, some that pop at me when I click. Annoying, but I can live with it. We're on the internet, after all, and there is no such thing as a free lunch. This is a great forum, and if keeping it means we have to ignore a few silly ads, who am I to complain? I mean really. Who among us wants to pay for a new ad-free home for us? Ha! Thought not. Razz

Just one more thought. This is the Shopping Season, and whoever we're hosted by is probably desperate to make as much money as they can while it lasts. Well, let's hope they do! We don't want them going out of business, do we? What it means for us is that the ads may increase and even become more annoying. Hopefully, it also means they may diminish once the Shopping Season is over.

Bottom line, though, I say again: We have a free forum! cheers So put on your Santa Hat of Tolerance santa and ride it out. We can do it!

Hey - I have a question - my number never changes! - it's been at 75 FOREVER! - now, I don't think I'm at 5000, but I'm SURE it's got to be well over 100. What happened?????

That is strange. Let's see what mine does after this
post.

Ok mine changed from 2340 to 2341 and I saw that yours was at
76. Try again and see what happens.

I hate to tell you this, Jim, but you have 76 posts - so you'd better start talking! Razz If you go into your profile, I think you should be able to see every post you've made. There were 5 pages of 15 posts each and a 6th page with one...that comes to 76 in my book.

OK - I noticed that my count had changed to 76, so I guess it's OK - seems like I should have more, but if it's 77 after this, who can argue with the great forum counter in the sky!

I see 77 now. Jim, honey, I know how easy it is to read posts, think of answers, then second guess yourself and decide not to actually type them out and post them. Well, anyway, I do that. I'd probably be in the millions if I posted every comment that passes through my mind! Lord knows, I do plenty of that already. This post is probably one of them, and I should probably delete it, but I won't. Because you, my friend don't do enough of it! tongue You know how we're always saying we want to hear from you? Well, we do. Don't just think, post! clown

has anyone else been asked on a daily basis (sometimes more than once a day) to log in on here? sometimes i'll be posting and then it will ask me to log in.
tonight i had something that has never happened in here before....i had sent a post in a thread and before it would go through i got one of those messages where you have to enter the word thing before it would go through.
just wondering if anyone else has been having this happen.
its not a huge problem...but i have to keep reminding myself to look to see if i'm logged in!

Now that you mention it yes. For me it's been the past couple of days.
I just assumed it was operator error.

Yes. I'm being asked to log in every night recently. I put in my user name, my password fills itself in, the box is still checked to "leave me logged in" and I get in with no prob. I'm learning to check to see if I'm logged in or not when I come here. The asking for the word thing hasn't happened to me yet, but this is my first post of the day so we'll see what happens when I try to post it.

I'm wondering if Bobcat (or the site) has beefed up security. I have no problem with that, but I do wonder what's going on.

EDIT: no word challenge on this post.
