The spray/neuter clinic. I took the feral up there today.
Yes and they are clogged. It wasn't too bad this morning
since I left so early but it was awful this afternoon.

You are so right, JB. My work day is 6:30-3 PM, and on the way to work at 6 AM, I'm good, but by 3 PM, it's plenty busy. What bugs me even more is at 3 PM on the day before any given holiday. Lots of the people who usually get off later decide to knock off early, so my trip home at my regular time gets even more hectic, because nobody can justify letting us earlybirds knock off earlier than our given 3 PM quit time! The early release doesn't trickle down that far!

is there anyplace before the bad traffic hits that you could go for a while til things chilled down on those crazy pre holiday days? (like going to buy groceries on the way home?)

i'm trying to find something to be thankful for today...i'm still reeling from getting informed (not for the first time) that my hours are cut because i complain..and if i complain about my hours being cut to anybody they are going to cut them even more to where i'll be lucky to get 10 hrs a week.

i guess i can say i'm thankful i can read the books i got from the library. i just wish i could sit still long enough to read more than 4 or 10 pages a time.

just horrendous at anytime.

Sounds like it's a vicious circle for you Jeane, you complain about the hours being cut so in punishment they cut them even more on you. Time to start looking for another job IMHO. Your bosses are being major jerks.

Thankful I still have a job and I start on Aug 25th. At least after I get my first paycheck of the new school year I can have gas in the car so I can drive on days like today when it's raining so hard you feel like you need a rowboat to go anywhere but you're out walking in it instead.

looking for another job is not something i want to worry about..i've got to find another place to live....which is going to have to be out of this state cuz there's no way i can afford to live here. i have too much saved up for emergencies to get any help anywhere and i can't afford to live here.
i've put in for jobs here that i can get to and work at but there's nothing....working two jobs isn't something a person without a car (who can't afford to pay for public transportation both ways on a daily basis) is able to do.
(I'm finding out that even the men in their 30s and 40s they hire at the store STILL live with their mom and/or dad).

today i'm thankful for.....a bag of Indiana Jones M&Ms i found when i was moving something a few days ago. I don't even know the expiration date..but i think i bought them at least three years ago. but i'm getting a little treat now.

Good chocolate can keep for years so unless they look really nasty they should still be good.

I'm thankful we didn't get any tornadoes last night during all those wave upon wave of torrential thunderstorms!

also thankful i remembered to get one of those sports water bottles at Trader JOe's the morning....i think i can use it for a 'neti' pot and i really need to work on my sinuses! (Dr Oz was making me freaky this afternoon talking about the 'death zone'....esh!)

Thankful that I didn't become a road kill this afternoon
in Whole Foods parking lot. A toad on cell phone driving a
range rover.

I hate folks who think they can drive and talk on a phone at the same time! And the ones who think they can TEXT and drive at the same time. Who are they kidding?

Thankful you didn't get hurt Sue. Also thankful that no tornadoes or large hail showed up here last night. The storms were bad enough for them.

people who yap on cells while driving in parking lots think they aren't doing anything wrong cuz they're not on the street. esh...dead pedestrian is a dead pedestrian whether on the road or on the parking lot!

I"m glad i made it home in the heat. also glad the electric was on when i came home cuz it was going off for hours when i left for work.

(still waiting to hear about the cat crisis!)

i'm thankful i didn't melt like powdered sugar in the torrential rain i walked home in. (I'm going to have to find another pair of shoes to wear the next couple days cuz my good suede ones are completely soaked through. (actually, i was pretty much soaked through as well!)

Thankful the horrible storm finally left the area (probably the same one you got caught in Jeane). And that it cooled off for a couple days while furkid sitting this weekend.

glad i made it through another day and made it home lugging some heavy stuff. (still waiting for my shoes to start to dry from getting water logged yesterday!) I'm thankful the inner soles of those shoes (they're Easy Spirits i got at the thrift shop for $2.50) come out. didn't know that til i went to put them outside to dry!

Last time my shoes got soaked in the rain it took nearly 4 days for them to completely dry. Do you have a fan going? If you set the shoes in front of it the breeze will speed up the drying a bit.

Thankful we made it through another day furkid sitting without passing out from the heat in the house.

Also put newspaper in them. This helps them dry and not
become stiff.

no newspaper here....the closest i could come is magazine pages but i doin't think they would soak anything up.
i put them outside for about 5hrs yesterday and put them out right after i got home tonight and that should get them dry. i don't go to work again til Sat so they'll be dry by then.
I"m thankful I didn't throw out the ripped up sneakers i had been wearing before these cuz i wore those these past two days.

See, procrastination sometimes pays off!

I'm thankful I got a decent night's sleep last night despite the warmth of the apartment! Thank God for whoever invented the electric fan!

well, one of the deals for me working til closing is that the person who wants me to fill for them needs to make sure there's someone there who will drive me home. (Hell, since i'm taking their hours on a fri night they should buy me dinner! I've never ever ever in all the years i've worked asked someone to take my hours..esp during the weekend).
if i'm lucky i'll get a ride into work as well though...i already told joe that i got the call about going in. initially i thought it was 4:30 but i go in at 4:15. and i will get there earlier if i can so i can cash my check.(will actually be profitable for them to drive me in cuz it means they'll get their money before the end of the month unstead of waiting til Mon when i can get to the bank!).

Chuckle!! Settle for the ride home. Still it's a few more
hours than you had before. Jeane, me being the tacky soul i am
would make them wait till Monday.

Thankful for friends who do spur of the moment
things. cheers
