She hates spending what little money she has on food. If she spent on food, how can she get tp, toothpaste, etc.? Between rent, utilities, phone, mandatory Medicare premiums and copays, there isn't a lot left over at all.

fewer dvds = more money for essentials.
every time i go to the store i wind up putting at least half of what i pick up back on the shelves and usually a few things i still have in the cart are put up on the shelf above the register because i just can't afford them. today it was something as simple as a dented can of beets for 30 cents. but i knew i needed to get something at the drug store and if i spent that 30 cents i wouldn't have enough money.
i think i'm some sort of freak cuz i just do without and use my credit card very little. but i learned to live in my meaNs and not beyond probably before i even knew what money was!

I was going to have to buy shoes but I found a box full of new ones in the closet I'm sorting/purging at the moment. Big enough to wear two pairs of socks in, which is perfect for winter. I just need a pair of extra-wide snowboots now. My old pair is literally falling apart at the seams and I can't glue them back together anymore.

I remember cherry Nehi soda. Do they make that anymore? It was great to use for making a cherry float when you got bored with rootbeer.

I have to have an 8-8 1/2 now......funny, I used to wear a 7 1/2 but my feet seem to have grown in the past few years. Just need the E width now which is very hard to find off the rack, some "wide-width" shoes don't fit me anymore.

Cherry, Orange, or Grape NeHi.......they had them all here at one time.

i'm not sure if 8 1/2 would fit in the largest boys size...but i have very wide feet and were two pair of socks inside the largest boy's size boots. since land's end if so good about their return policy i'd say wait until their boots(I could tell ya the exact name of the boot....i just need to look it up)go on sale (they've always been $19.99 when i got them)and they have free shipping (which is almost all the time).IF they don't fit you can just send them back with their shipping label and get your money back. $19.99 is the cheapest i've been able to find even a marked down cheapo pair anywhere else. The land's ends are good quality.

I'll have to remember that and look online for them. They're bound to have a sale soon, to generate sales for the last quarter. So far the stores are complaining they're not making enough so sales should be good for the holidays this year.

Ring Pops are around year round! they are bigger sellers in the summer cuz they don't melt on the kids and the car seats!

The gum with the comic is Bazooka;) (easy to remember cuz the main character in most of the comics is Bazooka Joe!...that's the way i had to remember it just now:) ) It still comes in the little retangular pieces about 1/4" thick.....but now you can get it in a sort of 'block' of 10 or 12 pieces. (but it still smells and tastes the same!!Every time i open a box i smell it and want to start chompin away!)

There have been times I wanted to buy a box of Bazooka just to read the comics and not for the gum. Rolling Eyes

I'm late in checking out this topic. I remember the bridge
mix and a lot of the other stuff. One of the things I miss
is Carnations's malted milk mix. It was a mix that you could
stir into milk and have an instant malt.

Oooooooo, I really miss that too. I loved making Malted Milk with that stuff. I think Nestles still makes something like that but it's very hard to find.

I hope you find it! Then you can tell us where we can get it too. Hopefully it's a store that has a branch here near Rockton....
