Five chapters left in Needful Things and most likely finish it tomorrow. Right now, my concentration isn't all there right now and same thing goes for my attention span.

yeah...Needful Things was a good book but not something you'd want to re read. (there's not a lot of King i would re read....the Stand is about it...though if i live long enough to be able to just sit and read and read and not work etc AND my eyes hold out...i'd like to read the Dark Tower books all the way through from the start to the end (I never read the last book!).Actually....those books used to scare me away...i thought they were cowboy stories but they're nothing like that. BUT you have to be determined cuz once you read the first one and you like it you'll want to keep r eading it through.

I'm heading up to the half way point of Odd Hours. so far it feels ploddy but it might pick up in about 50 pages. i just finished about 10 pages of them hiding out in the back of a car in a garage...esh.

I feel better about not wanting to reread any of King's book and that I won't be the only one that way.

i broke down and went to the library today (always hoping there will be soemthing i collect in the the sale shelves) i didn't find anything but brought home three books(which i regretted because it made my backpack much to heavy to carry home).one is a very thing Stephen king book that might be about baseball (which i might regret...unless of course the baseball game is full of zombies or something interesting!)there was a rare Monk book (i've only seen one other one one there) and one i believe Sue is reading or read....Cat of the Century.

I'll have Odd Hours done in a day or two and should finish at least one of the shorter books before Sat. then i'll haul whatever i've finished reading to the library on Sat (cuz its closed and i won't be tempted to get more!).

Finished Cat of the Century. Pretty good read, Rita Mae Brown has
gone back to how she started the series.

Started a book called the Cruelest Month by Louise Penny.
It's set in the Provence of Quebec.

finished Odd Hours last night and am reading a book with two sort of novellas (i don't want to call them short stories cuz they're over 50pages each)by Stephen King. One is about a baseball team called the Titans and the other is called Mortality i think. i'll finish it before i get to the library tomorrow and will start on one of the last two books i got out the last time.

fluff you might like to read Blockade Billy if you can get it from the library (not something i'd tell anybody to buy unless they reallllly love baseball)...forget about the first story (unless,of course you like baseball and understand the lingo) but the second story in the thin little book is a good little one day read and sort of interesting.

i finished that one last night and started on a Monk book i was shocked to find on the 'new books' shelves. I'm about 1/4 of the way through it. i'd like to read this and the next book finished this week.

Jeane, I wrote both titles down and if I think of it, I can look for them at the second hand bookstore. I haven't done much reading in the past few days.

fluff its one book...a little small thin book...less than 200 pages. has a really good norman rockwell type painting of a baseball player on the front. the first story is the one about the baseball player and the second was Morality.

i'm more than half way through the monk book...might finish it tomorrow.

Reading Cat in a Leopard Spot. This one involves the
big cats. Kind of neat.

some of those books for young kids are even better when you read them when you're older!

i have about 60 pages left to read and then i can start in one of those cat mystery books.

i started Cat of the Century (one of those Sneaky Pie Brown books...not to be confused with Storm of the Century (the really cool Stephen King story). i'm about 1/4 of the way through...i'll probably be at least half way through tomorrow and might finish it by Tues. (i'm sure i'll be going into work extra early on Mon so i'll get more reading done there).

I wonder, too. My niece loved those books as a kid but I never tried them. I don't like the movie and never even realized they WERE books until I grew up.

Just finished re-reading an old favorite, Crazy in Alabama by Mark Childress. Set in the 60's, we have a good kid in difficult family circs, racial tension (MLK makes a cameo appearance), an aunt who killed her abusive husband and is headed to Hollywood to star on The Beverly Hillbillies (with her hubby's head for company, freshly kept in Tupperware), and all manner of human drama, comedy & tragedy both. An eye even gets put out! Just like our mamas said it would! Shocked I understand it was made into a movie, and maybe I'll watch it someday, but I feel sure this is one of those books that no movie could ever capture all the nuances.

This reviewer gives 5 stars and highly recommends. Wink
