No, it's live action and it starred Kirk Douglas and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It came out in late '70's.

I don't know if it's just me, it annoys me that there are so many remakes of King Kong.

i think King Kong is sort of like Frankenstein or vampires...every so many years people just feel a need to bring him back new and improved. i'm fine with the old one from the...was it 30s? i don't think i've been able to sit through the one with Jack Black all the way through....i've seen chunks of it and i like Jack Black in it, but i just can't sit through it all at once.

Well, Kong is the quintessential beauty and the beast story. I think that Kong is a subject that many CGI people think they can do better than the last guy, so they keep remaking it. Unfortunately, many people, myself included, feel like they can add a little imagination and make that original 1933 movie do for us just what it did for audiences 77 years ago. And NOBODY can out-scream Fay Wray!

oh yeah...good ol fay ray and those lungs;)

i think we need to put the Godzilla films in with these Kongs....the originals were so much fun, but then people keep coming along and trying to make them better. i LIKE the guy in the rubber suit! (though when i was a kid i thought it was one of those animatronic things like the dinosaurs that f reaked me out so bad at this dino attraction back in MI!).

I never had a desire to see any King Kong movie because of all those remakes. I see it as an competition to see who can out do everyone and at the same time not be out done by the next person. I don't mind a remake if it is intended as an improvement of the original and not seen to out do the original. I do realize movie technology gets better over the years.

I agree with you, I think the worst remake around wass
the newest version of the Day the Earth Stood Still.

oo...and War of the Worlds .... the ORIGINAL faboo...the latest one stinkaroo! (I love War of the Worlds..the book, the radio script and the radio play (I used to have large chunks of the script memorized i loved it so much!) but no....Tom Cruise and that chick who played his daughter and the whole modernized story sucked like a black hole.

I'm trying to think of any remake that has been better than the original. nothing is coming to mind.

I really enjoy Napoleon Dynamite, which lots of people can't stand. That film really captures the small high school culture.

I didn't care for Forest Gump. There was something about that made me not want to watch it again.

Gump is one of those movies i've seen all the way through once....but i've seen pieces of here and there. there are certain pieces i can watch and some that just are too boring. i do crack up when he's doing his running thing and dries his face and the sweat make a "have a nice day' smiley face.

I watched the restored version of the old King Kong, it made a lot more sense. Remember the scene where the guys were on the big log with Kong on one end, yet they wouldn't just get off the log at the other end? Never made sense to me, but it seems a long time ago somebody cut a bit of that scene to save time (probably for cramming in more commericals). There was a dinosaur at the other end of that log, and when they fell off into the ravine there were huge nasty insect monsters to eat them. They had to recreate those snipped scenes from the original script, rebuilding the Kong manakin and everything else from the original blueprints.

I couldn't get into Forrest Gump all that much either.

As for Gump, I too was somewhat underwhelmed by it, but I don't really blame the movie for that. I blame the hype. People made SUCH a big deal about it - how could it ever live up? I only saw it in the theater once, and that was after it had been blown into the biggest thing in the whole wide world. I have seen bits of it on TV since then, and I don't think it's too bad now, but it never should have been inflated to that epic status by the critics. There are lots of movies I view that way - Avatar being one of them, and Titanic being another. Now, I never saw Avatar, so I can't judge it, but after all that hype, I don't believe I can go see it, because I would be expecting more than it can possibly deliver. I think it's the people who go see things on the opening weekend who get overly excited that spoil it for the rest of us.

I haven't seen Avatar either. My brother saw and said it was just another
war movie and a violent one at that. Also he said that the 3 D gave him
a headache.

if i went to see Avatar it would only be to see the graphics and animation. its turned into a new 'star wars' with people getting it into their lives and going in painted blue etc. i bet there are a bajillion costumes for it this year!

i'm not hip on 3D....i can't make it work on the old fashioned kind with the paper glasses (i'm lucky is stuff kinda sorta maybe looks a little different...it just doesn't look like its jumping out at me like its supposed to!). I"ve wondered how the new glasses work and if they would work for me. But there's no way i'm paying like $25 to a movie...i don't care if its directed by Taratino and starring Tucci,Platt, Buscemi, Carrey and they're all carrying around black cats in red capes!

I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who hasn't seen Avatar. I decided not to see it because of all the media attention it was getting.

I am SO sick of all these 3-D movies! Evil or Very Mad 3-D is useless! It is just a gimmick. It is a cheap way for movie people to get more money.
