Fargo was a hugely popular movie when it came out. Here is the IMdB info on it. I didn't think as much of it as everyone else did.

had any talent in it.

ah come on....its cool just for the hard accents, the snow (I used to watch it when i was in TX just to experience the snow like back home!!)but my fave.... Steve Buscemi! (I can watch anything he's in!)...and, of course, the wood chipper;)
but then...i like weird and i like creepy;)

i saw most of a movie called There Will be Blood a while back and it made pretty much no sense to me. (I'm hoping that i just needed to watch it right from the start to understand it).

I was just talking to my co worker and mentioned two films I loved, which she is too young to know. Makes me feel old

The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming
and

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

Tried, but could not watch Fargo. Great story with the preg Sheriff and all, but too much ruthlessness and cruelty. I found it unbearable and stopped the tape. I read the papers. Acting be damned, I just can't disconnect from real life when I see stuff like that, and I don't need to see that sh*t made up for a movie.

Hoo, that felt good! I've been wanting to say that for years. Everybody made a big fuss over Fargo, but I thought it was horrible!

I remember those old *star studded* movies from the 60's, LK. They started the whole star-ensemble cast thing and sparked the whole star-cameo thing we still see today in movies and TV shows.

okay,i know i'm a freak....but i love movies like Fargo...and Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. But then, they all have Steve Buscemi and, like Jim Carrey,i will watch anything he's in just cus Steve is so interesting to watch. besides, i've seen enough cruelty in real life, i'm more creeped out by Psycho because that is based on the same guy in the midwest that Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on.

I remember The Russians are Coming the Russians are Coming. Good ol Alan Arkin! The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming, everybody to get from street!!

It was out around the same time as The Mouse that Roared. They were big in the not scarey but not dopey Disney movies at the drive ins!

The Mouse that Roared? that was a bunch of British actors. it was about a tiny little town....it had a weird name but i can't remember what it was;)
the other one...The Russians are Coming had a lot of American comedians in it. the only one i remember is Alan Arkin cuz he was one of the Russians. a lot of names come into my head but i'm not sure about any of them....could have had Bob Newhart in it...

I loved the Mouse that Roared and the Mouse on the Moon, though the sequel wasn't as good without Peter Sellers in it. The Mouse that Roared had this itty bitty European country declaring war on the USA, and launching it by landing in NY during an air raid drill, wearing chain mail armor, and using bows and arrows! The Mouse on the Moon had them ask for money for space research, they refurbished an old Russian rocket with showerheads for the thrusters and wine for fuel.

Well the copy of Gone With the Wind that I checked out from the library was skipping.
I tried cleaning it up with no success. I know a lot of people don't like this movie and I
can understand it. There are things that I rabidly loath about this movie. Still if you stand
back and look at it, it is a period piece. The acting, cinematography still stand up. Let's face it
Clark Gable as Rhett Butler is the quisential cad and a bounder.

What do you loathe about GWTW? It's a beautifully made picture; Scarlet is lovely and rotten & Rhett is a handsome bounder. And what's not to like about Leslie Howard or Olivia de Havilland? (Though they were both a bit delicate!) I know the south of the period is politically incorrect, but with mobsters and murderers and thieves and addicts all over the big screen, it's not like we're too sophisticated or pristine for this kind of story.

I'm watching The Invisible Man right now on Svengoolie. Good stuff.

Bobcat my biggest problem with the movie is how they not only show the ante belluem South
but how they show deal with the war and it's aftermath. You see Bobcat I'm from Kentucky, a boarder state.
That war still has lasting impact not only for Kentucky but for all of the South. It continues the myth of the lost but noble
cause what ever that was and it wasn't states rights. Still I like the movie because of all the reasons you cited. One other thing
the sound track was killer.

No joke girlfriend. It's still way ahead of any of the computer generated
things that they do now. I'm serious I shoot both film and digital and the hardest things
to shoot is when you are doing film. Especially if you are metering through the lens.
When they were filming that movie they were using a lot of natural lighting, using natural lighting does not
leave you with a lot of window of opporutnuty(sp).

i don't like gone with the wind because i'm just not into many chick flicks or history from that period. i'd rather watch a movie about WWII if i want history;) (and to me romance...hm....The Wedding Singer?)
and for a movie made in the south? Anyone else ever see an Altman film called Brewster McCloud? (first movie ever made in the Astrodome back when there WAS an Astrodome)
I bet The Invisible Man was good though!

I don't think I ever had a history teacher that even mentioned, let alone talked about Pear Harbor. In fact, I never had a history teacher that made history fun to learn and only took history classes to meet requirements. I do know the attack on Pearl Harbor contributed to the U.S. entering WWII.

Today I got reminded of the movie Short Circuit. I vaguely remember it. If I ever saw it, I don't remember it. It may be one of those movies I may not remember watching when it came out until I start watching it.
